 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. The women, who carried placards and sang songs in support of Mr Yusuf, said they were protesting the alleged injustice done to the people of Kano State by the appellate court. The protesters, who’s began their march from the residence of former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at Miller Road, went peacefully straight to the Kano State Police Command Headquarters in Bompai to hand over their letter of protest. However, on their way to Bompai area, they were intercepted by teams of police officers and personnel of the Nigeria Correctional Service, who escorted them peacefully to their destination. Ahead of Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu’s formal declaration of his governorship ambition today (Monday), Eterno Hotels in Benin City has cancelled his booking to use the hotel. The hotel, located in the Government Reserved Area, Benin, is owned by a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state. Our correspondent gathered that Shaibu was contacted by the management of the hotel that the space was no longer available for his use while his money was refunded. The hotel management was said to have told the Shaibu group that another group, ‘Obaseki finishing well group,’ had paid for the same venue. POLICE ARREST MASTERMIND BEHIND DANGOTE-CEMENT-PRICE-SLASH SCAM The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Benjamin Ezeukwe aged 28 for masterminding and fleecing hundreds of innocent Nigerians in an elaborate cement-price-slash scam. Benjamin was arrested on October 19, 2023 in Rumuolumeni area of Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State following weeks of intensive investigation by officers of Area A Command of the State Command. Found in his possession were one Tecno phone, one IPhone, three SIM cards including that of 08039691980 which he used for the scam and a Toyota Avalon, which investigation revealed to be a proceed of his crime.  The suspect had in September, 2023 created a bogus but convincing online advert purportedly by Dangote cement claiming a massive price slash. Gunmen kill abducted Imo monarch The traditional ruler of Otulu community in the Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state, Eze Joe Ochulor, has been murdered. The monarch who was kidnapped by yet-to-be identified gunmen on Saturday morning was said to have killed in the evening. A source who spoke on condition of anonymity told our correspondent on Sunday that the monarch’s body was found on the roadside at Mbutu community in the neighbouring Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area on Saturday. Anambra: Catholic priest remanded for impregnating teenager Rev. Fr. Nwaigwe Stephen, a Catholic Priest in Anambra state, has been remanded for allegedly raping and impregnating a teenager. An Awka Chief Magistrates’ Court, otherwise known as the Children, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court , Anambra State remanded the priest in prison till December 6, 2023. The magistrate ordered the prosecutor to transmit the original case file to the office of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice of Anambra State. The priest was also accused of forcefully taking the pregnant minor to Benin City, Edo State, where she was delivered of her baby, but police investigation revealed that the whereabouts of the said baby is still unknown. Police Officer Who Killed George Floyd Stabbed In Prison Derek Chauvin, the US police officer whose murder of George Floyd sparked massive racial justice protests in 2020, was stabbed in prison on Friday, the New York Times reported citing unnamed sources. Chauvin knelt on the 46-year-old Black man’s neck for more than nine minutes on a Minneapolis street despite the dying man’s pleas.
