  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. COMMISSIONER CALLS FOR PROPER MEAT TRANSPORTATION IN LAGOS.#PRESS RELEASE.

     Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal has stressed the need for butchers in the State to follow global best practices in the production and handling of meat for public consumption. Lawal, who gave the charge today in his office when he received in audience a delegation of the Lagos State Butchers Association, noted that the charge became imperative in view of the fact that Lagos has always be en known for quality and global best practices hence the need for butchers in the State follow suit. He disclosed that the Government would soon revisit the type of vehicles being used by butchers to transport meat across the State, adding that the current situation is unwholesome and therefore not acceptable.       Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has signed the State Security Trust Fund Bill, passed by the State House of Assembly into Law. A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. kunle Somorin stated the Bill was signed by the Governor after it was presented to him by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon.       46-year-old Pius Ezekwem, an Igbo businessman residing in the Eastern Cape Province in South Africa has been killed. According to reports, Pius who ran a chain of bed and breakfast guest houses, was picked up by eight police officers at a Nigerian eatery last weekend and was forcefully taken to his home for a search and interrogation. An argument between Pius and the South African police officers degenerated so fast that a gun shot was fired, leading to Pius' death. Pius was married to a South African who was present at the scene of the incident. He reportedly asked the policemen to kill him in his house as he would not follow them to where they wanted to take him to. Sadly, the policemen allegedly killed him in the presence of his family. All phones were seized except that of Pius' sister in-law who recorded his altercation with the police. A PASTOR STABBED HIS MOTHER TO DEATH IN ANAMBRA YESTERDAY.

     A Pastor of one of the new generation churches in Ifite Oraifite community of Ekwusigo local government area in Anambra State, reportedly stabbed his mother, Mrs. Grace Anaka to death in the early hours of Tuesday August 27. Though why the Pastor identified as Nwabueze Anaka killed his mother is yet to be ascertained, it was gathered that he fled the scene almost immediately. Anambra State police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed confirmed the incident and he told newsmen that the fleeing Pastor stabbed his mother with a dagger in the family compound.
