 Govt extends search for fleeing 4,000 inmates to IDP camps …to comb villages, towns, environs of fugitive prisoners  The Nigeria Correctional Service has stepped up efforts to track down and recapture escaped inmates of the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, Niger State, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, said the government would relocate a lot of correctional centres to create better infrastructure and security. Tunji-Ojo made the pledge when he visited the Niger custodial centre, where 119 inmates had escaped following a rainstorm that damaged the facility on Wednesday. This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Ozoya Imohimi. The coronavirus was found on the outer packaging of frozen shrimps bought by a restaurant in Wuhu city when local authorities carried out a routine inspection, CCTV, China’s state television, said.  The news broke a day after a port city in eastern Shandong province said it found the virus on the packaging of imported frozen seafood, although it did not say where it originated. Since July, several other Chinese cities have also reported cases, including the port cities of Xiamen and Dalian, prompting China to suspend imports from three Ecuadorean shrimp producers.          ... Merges higher education with Science, Tech Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Professor Isa Hussaini Marte as his new chief of staff. The appointment was announced on Wednesday evening by the governor‘s spokesman, malam Isa Gusau. Marte, a serving commissioner for higher education, since August, 2019, is to replace Dr Babagana Wakil, mni, who passed on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in Maiduguri, after a protracted illness. Wakil served as Zulum’s chief of staff from Tuesday, June 25, 2019 till he died 42 days ago. Prof Marte is to handover to Dr Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe, whose new ministry will be Higher education, Science, Technology and Innovation. Merger of the two ministries is in line with the administration’s public service reforms. EFCC INVESTIGATES TWO LEBANESE FOR $890,000 FRAUD.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has commenced investigation of two Lebanese: Dina Jihad Khali and Chamseddine Waell Mohmmed, who were arrested by officers of the Customs Area Command, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for attempting to smuggle a total sum of $890,000 USD( Eight Hundred and Ninety Thousand United States Dollars) out of Nigeria, through the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa. The suspects were arrested on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 and handed over to the Port Harcourt Zonal office of the EFCC for further investigation.
