 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

25kg Cocaine deal: Court grants NDLEA's request to detain Abba Kyari, 6 others for 2 weeks A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja and presided over by Justice Zainab Dimka Abubakar has granted an application by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA to detain for two weeks Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari and six others under investigation for their involvement in a 25kilograms cocaine deal. The court gave the order following the application by the anti-narcotic agency, argued by its Director of Prosecution and Legal Services, Mr. Sunday Joseph on Tuesday 22nd February 2022. The Agency had in the application dated 15th February 2022 in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/111/2022 sought the leave of the court to detain the suspects in NDLEA custody for 14 days pending the conclusion of investigation. Court Orders Final Forfeiture of N500m Linked To Ex-Bauchi SSG Justice Zainab Abubakar of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, granted the application of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for the final forfeiture of $899,600 (N500m) linked to a former Secretary to the Bauchi State Government (SSG), Ibrahim Ahmed Dandija.  Justice Zainab in her ruling today, held that the prosecution had placed sufficient evidence before the court that the said money was proceeds of crime and should be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria as demanded by the Money Laundering Prohibition Act of 2011 as amended in 2012.  Justice Folashade Giwa Ogunbanjo of the Federal High Court, Abuja had on December 4, 2019, ordered the interim forfeiture of the said sum after EFCC through her counsel, Ekele Iheanacho filed an ex parte application for its seizure, upon recovery from an apartment at Sigma Apartment, 1 Embu Street, off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse

EFCC Arraigns Woman for Employment Scam The Kaduna Zonal Command of the EFCC, today 22nd February, 2022, arraigned one Amina Jauro (aka Jauro Amina Lawal) before Justice Darius Khobo of Kaduna State High Court on a five count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence.  Amina is alleged to have defrauded some hapless jobseekers of N 1, 850, 000 (One Million, Eight Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) in 2019 on the pretext that the money would be used to secure employment for them with some Federal Government Agencies. It was after the payment, that they discovered that they had been scammed and efforts to recover their monies proved abortive.  One more photo below.

2023: Kwankwaso, Other Non-Active Politicians Form New Party A former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Tuesday announced the formation of Third Force, under the aegis of The National Movement, thereby lightening the political temper of Nigeria towards the 2023 Presidency. Others in the team with him include Senator Suleiman Hunkuyi of Kaduna State; former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung; popular Northern critic, Buba Galadima; and other prominent Nigerians. According to them, the Third Force would take over power from the All Progressives Congress in 2023. The TNM said it was conscious of its strong duties to save Nigeria from disintegration. 2023: We Won’t Allow ‘Peoples Destruction Party’ (PDP) Return To Power, Says El-Rufai  Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has taken a swipe at the main opposition party in Nigeria, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying the APC is committed, by reaching a zoning formula agreement, to ensure the “Peoples’ destruction party” does not return to power. Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said contrary to reports in the media of division among the APC governors, the agreement had been reached on the zoning formula. He said: “We have agreed on a zoning formula for all the six geo-political zones. Essentially, the northern zone will have the positions the south have had in the last eight years. And vice versa. “So, by the grace of God, on the 26th of March, we would have done our national convention.” el-Rufai also said, “We are committed to ensuring that the Peoples, Destruction Party doesn’t come back to power.”

FORMER MISS ALABAMA 'ZOE SOZO BETHEL ' DIES AFTER SUFFERING 'SEVERE' BRAIN DAMAGE FROM ACCIDENT. (PHOTOS).#RIP

Zoe Sozo Bethel, a conservative commentator for Right Side Broadcasting Network (RSBN) and the 2021 winner of Miss Alabama For America Strong, has died at 27 after succumbing to injuries sustained in an undisclosed accident, the E! News reports. Bethel’s family confirmed her death in a post on Instagram. They wrote that she died on Feb. 18 but did not reveal any further details surrounding her death.  “Zoe touched the hearts of many people and was actively affiliated with several organizations and groups namely, she was the current Miss Alabama (for America Strong), a political commentator for RSBN, a Brand Ambassador for Turning Point USA, and Liberty University’s Falkirk Center,” the Instagram post read.  “At this time of bereavement, effectual and fervent prayers are solicited for the family members, and the family asks that their privacy wishes be honored and respected.”  Bethel’s family also asked supporters to donate to their GoFundMe page to aid in medical and funeral expenses.

A CLOSE TO HATCHING DINOSAUR EMBRYO WAS FOUND IN GANZHOU,CHINA. (PHOTOS).

A close-to-hatching #oviraptorosaur dinosaur embryo was found in the Ganzhou, Jiangxi Province of China.  The fossil was identified as a toothless theropod dinosaur, or oviraptorosaur, dating back 72 to 66 million years.  It is housed at Yingliang Stone Nature History Museum in Fujian Province. A man who held the title of Vice President of Student Life at the University of Alabama has stepped down from his position following an arrest as part of a reported prostitution sting. Per a report from the Associated Press, 50-year-old Myron Pope was arrested last week on a misdemeanor charge of soliciting prostitution and later released on bond. In a subsequent statement from University of Alabama President Stuart R. Bell, Pope’s resignation was confirmed. “I have difficult news to share today,” Bell wrote, per Tuscaloosa News. “Vice President of Student Life Myron Pope has resigned from the university following his recent arrest. We understand this news will be difficult for our community.” Bell added that an interim VP of Student Life would be appointed following Pope’s exit. Pope, who stepped into the VP of Student Life role in May 2020, is also said to have previously served as the director of recruitment programs and alternative certification. Cynthia Ikenna, counsel to suspended Cop, Abba Kyari, has asked the court to grant him bail as he is Hypertensive and Diabetic. Kyari who is in the NDLEA custody for his alleged involvement in drug trafficking had filed for his bail application. The application was however turned down by the court. MAN KILLS HIS BEST FRIEND IN EKITI OVER THIRTY NAIRA. (PHOTO).

It was a gruesome scene inside a beer parlour in Irona, Ado Ekiti, when a man known as Potable smashed a bottle and fatally stabbed his best friend, Amos Ayoola Ajayi, many times. Ajayi, who was from Itapa Ekiti, and his assassin, Potable, were best friends, according to reports. Potable was the best man at Ajayi's wedding in 2014, according to reports. However, the friendship was shattered on Sunday afternoon when Potable and Ajayi got into an argument over the sum of thirty naira. According to witnesses, the quarrel had already been resolved, and Ajayi had returned to his seat to continue drinking his beer, unaware that his companion had gone to break a bottle, with which he stabbed him in multiple places, including his neck. Despite the fact that Ajayi was brought to the hospital, he died later.  According to witnesses, the suspected killer has been apprehended by the Police.

 Two students of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka were on Sunday evening, found dead at a private hostel in the school. A source at the institution said Room One of the hostel, located at the William’s Lodge, was forced open following a heavy stench oozing out from it. According to the source, the two unidentified students, a male, and a female, might have died some days ago, due to the level of decay on their corpses, without their neighbours knowing about it. It was gathered that the parents of the dead female, identified as Adaeze, had been calling her phone line for some days without any response. The source said when several calls were not responded to, the parents, in the process, became bothered and reported to the Police. The parents in company with the security operatives stormed the hostel to check on her, they met her door tightly locked. On forcing the door open, they found the two students lying dead in the room. I Have Chronic Diabetes, Abba Kyari Tells Court  Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja, on Monday, refused to order the Federal Government to release the detained Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, from the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. Rather, the judge ordered that Kyari should put the Federal Government on notice of the existence of the suit he instituted against it. The suspended cop had dragged the Federal Government before the court challenging his continued detention by the NDLEA. In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/182/22, Kyari, who is being held by the NDLEA over his alleged involvement in a drug deal, sought an order of the court to immediately release him and asked to be admitted to bail in liberal conditions. In an ex parte application argued by his counsel, Cynthia Ikena, Kyari claimed to be suffering from chronic diabetes threatening his life and, therefore, needed urgent medical attention.
