 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

APC To Hold First Post-Convention NEC Meeting The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC), says its first post-National Convention meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) will be held on Wednesday, 20th April, 2022.  The emergency NEC meeting which is expected to hold at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja will commence at 10am.  "Pursuant to Article 25.2.ii of the Constitution of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the National Working Committee (NWC) is therefore, inviting members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party to a meeting to consider the Party’s Timetable/Schedule of Activities for Primaries for the nomination of candidates for the 2023 General Elections and other relevant business of the Party." To set the records straight, Police observation point along Ekwulobia expressway came under attack late hours of yesterday 14/4/2022.  The Mobile personnel posted at the point, Gallantly repel the attack but unfortunately three of them sustained gun shot injury during the gun battle with the hoodlums. Following the quick deployment of operatives in the area by the command, calm has since returned in the area. Meanwhile Operation is still ongoing. Ugwuanyi swears in Ajogwu, Anike-Nweze as ENSIEC chairman, member, for second term  Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Thursday, swore in Dr. Michael Ezeugwu Ajogwu, SAN, as Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), for a second term, at the EXCO Chamber, Government House, Enugu. Gov. Ugwuanyi also swore in Dr. Greene Anike-Nweze as ENSIEC Member 1 for a second term.  Dr. Ajogwu and Dr. Anike-Nweze were sworn in as ENSIEC chairman and member respectively following their reappointment by Gov. The Nigerian government has opened a channel of discussion with the terrorists who abducted many passengers of a Kaduna-bound train over two weeks ago, according to relatives of the victims, Daily Trust reports. “After the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, we heard from the Federal Government through the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed that the government is in dialogue. That government is already discussing with the abductors of our relatives,” said Dr Jimoh Fatai, who has been designated as chairman of the group pressing for the release of their loved ones.   “We are happy about it, we note it, we acknowledge it and we appreciate the efforts of the government in that regard. What we are now appealing for is that government should speed up the process,” he added.   The news comes at the expiration of a 72-hour ultimatum issued by the relatives to the Nigerian government to open discussions that will see to the release of the captives.

Nigerians who wish to travel by rail from May 2022, should get their National Identity Number ready, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Fidet Okhiria, stated. According to him, this means of identity will enhance the profiling of passengers, which he said would also enhance the safety and security of rail users. The development trails the recent terror attack on an Abuja-Kaduna bound train. The Nigerian Railway Corporation had confirmed eight deaths, while many persons were declared missing. Foreign Investment: Ogun signs $400m MoU on Olokola FTZ, Agro processing zone ...as 25,000 jobs, technical training centre  coming  Ogun State government has signed a $400m Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a foreign firm, Arise Integrated Industrial Platform, on the development of Olokola Free Trade Zone and Remo Agro Processing Zone. The state governor, Dapo Abiodun, signed this MoU with the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Arise Integrated Industrial Platform, Gagan Gupta, on Friday, at the Exco Chamber of the Governor's Office, Abeokuta. Speaking shortly after the signing ceremony, Mr. Gupta, disclosed that his organisation would focus on the Olokola Free Trade Zone and the Remo Agro-Processing zone.
