 Outcries Over State Recognised Vigilantes In North-West   The security outfits established by various state governments, especially in the North-West, are being accused of indiscriminate arrests and killing of suspects, as well as innocent people without recourse to judicial processes, findings by Daily Trust Saturday revealed. But those charged with the responsibility of managing the outfits have debunked the claims of extrajudicial killings, though some admitted what they described as “overzealousness” by some of the operatives. It was alleged that in some states, long lists of suspected bandits, their supporters or sympathisers have been arrested and ultimately killed, and such acts are allegedly being carried out without recourse to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Corpse Of Young Girl Knocked By Car In Lafia Still Unclaimed  Unnamed young girl was on Wednesday knocked down in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State.  The deceased was reportedly hit by a car around Millionaire Quarters, Lafia at exactly 2pm.  Her corpse which has since been deposited at the mortuary of M&D hospital is still unclaimed by the relatives.  The family/relative are advised to contact the Area Command of the Nigerian Police, Jos road, Lafia and claim the corpse.

Roads In Ogbaru, Anambra West, Awka North Worry Me - Governor Soludo Says As He Flags Off Nine Roads In Okpoko  Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has flagged-off construction of nine roads in Okpoko, Ogbaru Council Area. The roads include: Obodoukwu road Obodo-Owerri Road (5.77km) Oguagu- Ik Onuorah-Anumudu-Mgbua- Amazu-Owerri Road (2.97km) Edeh Road-School Road-Awalite - Ojoto-Owerri Road (1.48km) School Road- Umuobom Street-Ojoto Street Junction (0.58km) and Umuobom street-Ojoto Street Junction-Adazi-ani street- Owerri Road- (0.77km).  Others are Umenweke street (Obodoukwu Junction)-Umeojiakor street ( School Rd Junction)-0.58km, (Ojoto Junction)-Anumudu (Mgbuka Amazu Junction)0.99km, Uzii st- Mission st (Awaited Junction) 0.54km and Anumudu street (ik Onuorah Junction )- Gmi Rd- 0.38km.  These roads totalling 14.3 kilometers, signals the official flagged-off of road construction across the state. ARTMA Begins Enforcement To Decongest Eke-Awka Roads A joint enforcement team led by the Anambra State Road Traffic Management Agency, ARTMA, has begun decongestion operations to free up traffic on major roads around the Eke Awka Market.  The enforcement team led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ARTMA, Engineer Emeka Okonkwo, had spent hours dissecting the traffic situation around the area, while pushing back traders whose wares exceeded the approved metre, and informing  motorists that pulling up on certain marked sections of the roads attracts huge fines. For so many years now, Eke-Awka Market had become notorious for constant gridlocks necessitated by traders who close up on the roads with their goods and motorists who either do their businesses on the roads or are packed entirely there. GOV AKEREDOLU CONDOLES AJOSE KUDEHINBU OVER WIFE’S DEATH  Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, has commiserated with former Head of Service and Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission, Mr Ajose Kudehinbu over the death of his wife, Mrs. Eunice Adunni Kudehinbu. The Governor led members of the State Executive Council to condole Kudehinbu at his residence in Akure.  Governor Akeredolu, who said he was short of words, described the death of Mrs. Kudehinbu as an unfortunate development.  While noting the finality of death, the Governor stressed that only God Almighty can comfort Kudehinbu and his children.  Arakunrin Akeredolu, who prayed God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, charged Kudehinbu to brace up for the children.  He said:”Well, in all things, as Christians, we should give thanks. SENATOR VICTOR UMEH VISITS SENATOR IFEANYI UBAH OVER RECENT ORDEAL  Senator Dr Victor Umeh, OFR, today visited the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah at his Abuja Residence where he sympathized with him over the recent Ordeal.  While expressing shock over the violent attack on his Convoy which claimed the lives of some of his Aides and Security Personnel, he urged him to remain strong and keep trusting in God. He thanked God for saving his life and prayed God to grant the Souls of those who lost their lives during the Attack eternal rest. Senator Umeh prayed to God to grant him and the families of the departed ones the fortitude to bear the losses.

43 Graduands Of COOU Inducted Into Medical and Dental Council Of Nigeria Forty-three medical graduands from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University have been inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. The event which took place at the premises of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka attracted the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. T.A.B Sanusi, the University Community, family and friends, students, the Anambra state Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, among others. Addressing the new inductees, the Registrar who commended the mutual relationship between the Anambra state government and the university, told the new graduands that they must be of good conduct, abide by the ethics of the profession at all times, as their profession is a highly regulated field. Femi Gbajabiamila, on Wednesday called for the speedy completion of the ongoing renovation of the National Assembly complex ahead of the delivery deadline of August 2023. Gbajabiamila made the call in Abuja as he toured and inspected key aspects of the work, particularly the House of Representatives Chamber, the dome and foyer of the complex. However, he warned that this must not compromise the quality of the work to be delivered. The Speaker said that though the renovation, which began last month, had progressed well, he would still ask the project managers to speed up the pace and beat the deadline. QUEEN ELIZABETH'S COFFIN IS NOW LYING-IN-STATE IN WESTMINSTER HALL.(PHOTOS).

Her Majesty The Queen’s coffin is now Lying-in-State in Westminster Hall. This afternoon it travelled down the Mall to Horse Guards Parade and Parliament Square before reaching the Palace of Westminster. During the Lying-in-State, members of the public will have the opportunity to visit Westminster Hall to pay their respects to The Queen. On the morning of Monday 19th September, the Lying-in-State will end and the Coffin will be taken in Procession from the Palace of Westminster to Westminster Abbey, where the State Funeral Service will take place.
