 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. The Policewoman, Inspector Charity Oyor  who was on traffic duty in the market on Wednesday, 23rd August, 2023, saw a shuttle bus carrying six heavy bundles of stripped armoured cable suspected to have been  stolen driving past. Security: Zulum presents 50 patrol vehicles, 300 motorcycles to military, CJTF, hunters, agro-rangers  Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Friday, distributed over 50 patrol vehicles and 300 motorcycles to the Nigerian military and volunteers from the ‘Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF)’ and hunters involved with securing communities across Borno State.  The distribution which took place at the multi-purpose hall of the Government House in Maiduguri aimed at enhancing surveillance for preventive and responsive operations against insurgents and other criminal activities. Military Holds Mass Burial For Personnel Killed In Niger State Ambush The military is currently conducting a mass burial for personnel who died during an ambush and air crash in Niger State. Bandits had ambushed the troops in Niger State on August 14, 2023, killing 14 soldiers while seven were injured. The burial is taking place at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja. Assassins kill retired Judge in Makurdi 25th Aug 2023  A former President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Benue State, Margaret Igbetar, has been murdered in Makurdi, the Benue State capital. Our correspondent gathered that Igbetar was murdered at her residence at No. 1 Wantor Kwange Street opposite the Benue State University, BSU, School of Medicine, Gboro Road, Makurdi. A reliable source said she was assassinated by yet to be identified persons and her body was discovered days after she was murdered. As at the time of filing this report, details were still sketchy to ascertain whether the retired Judge who was found in a pool of her blood was shot or stabbed by her murderers. Gunmen kill two Customs officers in Kebbi 25th Aug 2023  The Nigeria Customs Service, Kebbi State Command, has confirmed the killing of two of its personnel by gunmen suspected to be bandits in the state on Thursday. The spokesman for the command in the state Assistant Superintendent of Customs, Mubarak Mustapha, confirmed this in a press statement he made available to newsmen in the state on Friday morning.  NYSC Confirms Tinubu’s Minister Is A Serving Corps Member August 24, 2023 The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that Hannatu Musawa, the minister of art, culture and creative economy, is a serving corps member. This follows a claim by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), a civil society organisation, that Musawa is undertaking the one-year mandatory youth service scheme while she is still a member of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet.
