 Noise pollution: Lagos seals five churches, 19 hotels The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has temporarily shut down no fewer than five churches and 19 hotels over noise pollution between March 23 and April 26  Calculations by our correspondent also showed that no fewer than four markets and shopping complexes were also shut down over noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The churches that have been temporarily sealed include St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church Some of the hotels affected are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites. Governor El-Rufai Pardons Eleven Prisoners On New Year’s Day Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has approved the release of 11 prisoners from the Nigerian Correctional Service in celebration of the new year 2023. This is an exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 212 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria(as amended) and on the recommendation of the Advisory Council on the prerogative of mercy. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, which detailed that the pardoned convicts include those serving jail sentences of three years or more who have six months or fewer to complete their term, as well as long term prisoners who have served ten years or more of their sentence with good conduct and convicts suffering from ill health likely to terminate in death. Southern Kaduna Attacks: Our Doors Open For Dialogue – Kagoro Chief The Chief of Kagoro in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Mr Ufuwai Bonet, says his doors are open to dialogue with Fulani people and any warring faction towards ensuring permanent peace in his Chiefdom. Couple Burnt To Death After Attending Crossover Service A suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of the duo who reside in the Ibara Government Reservation Area of the capital, the Ogun State Police Command spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi told Channels Television. The suspected arsonists are believed to have trailed the couple to their private residence before setting the home ablaze. According to the police spokesman, the suspected arsonists also kidnapped the victims’ son alongside the housemaid and threw them into a river along the Adigbe-Obada axis of the town. Until his death, Kehinde was a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) while his wife Bukola worked with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
