 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Speaking on the incident, the State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, said the incident is very shocking and the State is indeed sad about the loss of the promising youth. She stated that a delegation of top-level management staff of relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies and the Police, has visited the school on a fact-finding mission. Governor of Rivers State,  Nyesom Ezenwo on Friday  presented a budget estimate of Four Hundred and Eighty-three billion, one hundred and seventy-three million, three hundred and seven thousand, ninety-six naira (N483,173, 307,096.00) for 2022 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly for consideration. He said the policy thrusts for the 2022 Appropriation bill christened, "Budget of Consolidation," will focus on the State's quest for greater economic growth and fiscal consolidation, enhancing jobs and wealth creation, building first-rate economic infrastructure, and achieving equity and social protection through poverty reduction and economic inclusiveness.     The Makurdi Zonal Command of the EFCC, has arraigned one Shagbaor Jeremiah before Justice Abdu Dogo of the Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, on a four count charge for allegedly obtaining Forty Two Million Naira (N42,000,000.00) by false pretence.     The defendant allegedly used an unregistered investment company, Monipoint Morsha Finance Limited, to defraud subscribers who were promised 1% daily returns on every N1000 invested.

A sixty nine year-old visually impaired man, Julius Anyadiegwu has lost his life to a fire incident that gutted his residential building in Ukunu village, Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State. The fifty four year -old wife of the deceased, Blessing, said she noticed the incident when she started having difficulty in breathing in the dead of night, adding that it was one of her sons; now hospitalized, who rescued her, tried to rescue the father, before he was badly burnt. Former Minister of Health and kinsman to the deceased, Dr. Tim Menakaya, and the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Chris Onyekwuluje, who described the incident as shocking to the community, called for calm while Police carries comprehensive investigation to unravel issue around and about the incident. They do n0t pray fire by fire …”.   Same thing they told Jesus: “your disciples do not fast, they only eat and feast…”.  And Jesus would answer — how do you expect them to fast when Emmanuel( the groom) is with them! When Emmanuel is taken away, then they’ll fast!  (Mt 9:15).  No wonder the only difference between the words “fast” and “feast” is the letter “E” referring to Emmanuel.  When Jesus (Emmanuel) is there, we will be feasting, rejoicing and being happy always; when Jesus is not there, it will be all fasting and sufferings and pains.  And Catholics are the only ones who seriously believe that Jesus is there concretely in the Eucharist. How then do you expect them to fast and suffer and pray fire by fire when Emmanuel is there in the Eucharist with them always! —Fr. Gabriel

 Yesterday at St James’s Palace, The Princess Royal hosted the annual Not Forgotten Association Christmas Party.  Ex-servicemen and women from all walks of life join together for a special Christmas celebration. The Not Forgotten Association support over 10,000 members of the Armed Forces each year.  They aim to combat isolation and loneliness amongst the Armed Forces community by providing entertainment and activities to bring people together.  The Not Forgotten Royal Christmas Party was established by King George V and Queen Mary in 1921 and has now been running for 100 years!. Two peasants were killed and not fewer than 50 abducted when terrorists attacked the Unguwan Gimbiya community on. the outskirts of Kaduna.  A clergy who craved anonymity, said: ” the bandits struck in the early hours of today ( Friday), invaded Ungwan Gimbiya Community of Sabo in Chikun local govt area of Kaduna state and abducted over 50 people and killed two.” “A total number of 13 families were visited by the bandits. The attack lasted for about 2 hours with heavy gunshots.” A resident of the area has confirmed that this kidnapping was the worst in that community since the inception of that form of crime in Kaduna. There is a mass exodus of residents of the area to safer places, even as the security agents were seen patrolling in neighbouring forests.  Journalists await a reaction from the authorities on the development.
