 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Woman arrested for allegedly selling her eight-month-old baby for N600k so as to settle bank loan A 33-year-old woman, Olaide Adekunle, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command for allegedly selling off her 18-month-old baby to a yet-to-be-identified buyer at the rate of #600,000. The suspect was arrested following a complain lodged at Sango divisional headquarters by the woman's husband, Nureni Rasaq, who reported that his wife, Olaide Adekunle, left home to Lagos on the 15th of March 2023 with their baby girl by name Moridiat Rasaq, but returned home without the baby. He stated further that all efforts to know what happened to the baby proved abortive as the woman was unable to give any reasonable account of whereabout of the said baby.  Upon the report, the DPO Sango division, CSP Dahiru Saleh, detailed his detectives to go after the said woman, and she was promptly arrested.  Police arrest 20-year-old lady with drug, recover firearm, live cartridges Lagos CP replaces DPO, orders trial of officers over extortion Operatives of Lagos State Police Command, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of  ljora-Badia, have arrested 20-year-old Aminat Ajayi with 103 wraps of Colorado. Colorado is a brand of psychotropic drugs commonly used by many Nigerians, especially youths. He gave the warning during a clampdown exercise at Mile 2 axis of Lagos where 132 commercial motorcycles were impounded for operating illegally and constituting a nuisance to the environment. EFCC Arraigns Man for N4.8m Land Scam in Kaduna The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arraigned one Munkai'la Abubakar before Justice Daruis Khobo of the State High Court sitting in Kaduna, Kaduna State on a seven count charge bordering on obtaining by false pretence and forgery.  The defendant sometime in January, 2018, allegedly sold four plots of land to one Umar Iskil for N4, 800,000 with forged titled documents. One of the count charges reads: “that you, Munka'ilu Abubakar sometime in January, 2018 at Kaduna within the Judicial Division of the High Court of Justice of Kaduna state with intent to defraud forged a document titled "TAKARDAN YARJENIYAN SAYAR DA PLOT KO GIDA DAKE DANBUSHIYA KADUNA" in respect of plot situate at Millennium City, Danbushiya Kaduna purportedly issued by Abubakar Mamadi, and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 344 and punishable under Section 345 of the Kaduna State Penal Code

Court Restrains ABSIEC From Conducting LGA Elections in Abia 2023/04/17  The Abia State Local Government election which is billed to hold on the 19th of May 2023, has suffered a setback as an order restraining Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC) from organizing the said election has been granted. Based on facts available to Ikoronews Honorable Justice Benson C. Anya of the Abia State High Court Arochukwu Division granted the order in a suit filed by Engr. Nwabueze Onwuneme (Suit No: HAR /8/2023) with Abia State Independent Electoral Commission (ABSIEC), Prof. Mkpa Agu Mkpa, Attorney General of Abia State, and Governor of Abia State as defendants. The order which was granted on the 23rd of March 2023, restrained ABSIEC from organizing or conducting any election and restrained ABSIEC from acting on any election timetable or programme pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
