 Fuel scarcity bites harder in Abuja, Ondo, Osun, others • Independent marketers sell PMS between N625 and N799 per litre There is no succour yet for motorists and other petrol end users despite the Thursday statement by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) that it had resolved the logistic problems that sparked the supply crisis. Reports from across the country yesterday showed that many filling stations had no fuel to sell. Some sold over and above the threshold of N650 per litre while motorists and other buyers besieged the few ones that sold within the range of N600 per litre. While many petrol stations in Lagos sold fuel at the normal price and queues were not noticeable, it was a different story in the industrial town of Ota, Ogun State where some filling stations hiked their pump price to N799 per litre. ICPC not at Liberty to Disclose Investigative Activities - ICPC Chairman The Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, SAN has said that the Commission was not at liberty to disclose information related to the identity of a petitioner and suspects, or the status of any investigative activities until investigation was completed. IJORA EASTLINK/CAUSEWAY PROJECT: LASG ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN DIVERSION DATE The Lagos State Government has announced the postponement of the construction of flexible pavements to be undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Works along Ijora Eastlink/Causeway. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said the project has been shifted from the previously announced date of August 6 and 7 to Friday 12th till Sunday 14th August, 2022,  Dr. Oladeinde added that motorists will be diverted into National Theatre to connect Ijora and Costain during the rehabilitation works on the scheduled dates. He, therefore, appealed to the motoring public to comply with the directives of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority personnel who will be deployed to the axis to minimise inconveniences to road users.

LAGOS TASKFORCE CLAMPS DOWN ON OKADA OPERATORS PLYING BANNED ROUTES … Says Okada Passengers Risk Three Months Jail Term The Lagos State Taskforce has continued its enforcement of the ban on commercial motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada, that ply restricted highways, particularly in the six Local Governments Areas and nine Local Council Development Areas across the State. Speaking on the exercise which took place in Agege/Fagba, Apapa and Ajah, the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, described the activities of the recalcitrant okada operators as rebellious and vowed to ensure those who continue to disregard the ban would have their bikes confiscated and crushed by the State Government. Jejeloye further stated that 322 bikes have been seized since the commencement of the week-long raid in the aforementioned areas of the State, assuring citizens that more will be done until the State’s vision of maintaining safety and sanity on Lagos roads is actualised.

Kaduna SMEs Operators Close Shop Over High Cost Of Diesel, Petrol Rising cost of diesel and petrol has forced many Kaduna business owners to close down operations, as they attributed their actions to unbearable cost of doing business in the country.   LEADERSHIP checks revealed that some of the businesses like hotels, table water, and printing companies among others that have endured the skyrocketing prices of materials and diesel had reduced the hours of running business using generators to control expenses. In an interview with our correspondent in Kaduna, manager of Nitex Hotels and Suites, Emmanuel Eze, lamented: “NEPA bills, diesel have increased. Now, for us not to close down, we only put on our generator in the night for our guests. People are complaining about no money and things are going up. The prepaid meter billing has gone up, they have reduced the units drastically, now I use plenty money to buy small units of NEPA. Even fuel now in some filling stations is N250 per litre

MAN KILLS FATHER FOR MARRYING SECOND WIFE IN NIGER A middle-aged man, Kazeem Muhammed, has fled after he killed his father following a dispute in Kwankashe area of Suleja, Niger State. The sad incident was said to have occurred on Wednesday morning. It was learnt that Kazeem had been angry with his father for getting married to a second wife for over a year. According to Daily Trust, a brother to the deceased, Isah, said that soon after killing his father, Kazeem fled. He said, “The boy is a drug addict and is always involved in bad activities. While they were arguing on Wednesday morning, he carried a plank and hit his father who fell on the floor. Immediately Kazeem noticed that he ran away. We rushed my brother to the hospital, but he died afterwards.” He further said the matter had been reported to the appropriate authorities while his brother’s remains had been buried according to Islamic rites. Meanwhile, the police in the area declined comment on the incident.

His Excellency stated this yesterday, while fielding questions from the press after his meeting with the Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria (SPDC). According to His Excellency, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) reneged on an agreement it entered with the State Government for the establishment of a Technical Service Workshop Center in Imo State, for the servicing of the supplied vehicles.  IVM non-compliance to the contract has led to the grounding of over 70% of the supplied vehicles. However, the Governor stated that the State Government is open for resolution of the difference for the interest of both party but he will not indulge in mismanagement of public funds
