 FG to Redirect Electricity Subsidy Savings to Improve Power Supply, Social Services - Minister  Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said that the over N1 trillion that would be saved from the withdrawal of electricity subsidy will be reinvested in improving power supply and the provision of social services for the country. Idris stated this in Kaduna on Saturday as a guest of the popular Hausa audience participatory programme of Radio Nigeria Kaduna called “Hannu Da Yawa.”  He said the disproportionate amount of electricity subsidy, approximately 40%, is benefiting only about 15% of the electricity consumer population, comprising affluent individuals and industrial clusters, who enjoy about 20 hours of electricity.  “It is essential to emphasize that the funds to be saved from the withdrawal of electricity subsidy will be reinvested in enhancing power supply across the country and improving other vital social services such as health and education,” he

 14-year-old Wyoming boy fatally stabbed by masked teens while trying to protect his girlfriend. Bobby Maher went to the East Ridge Mall with a friend on April 7th after his girlfriend called him to tell him she was being followed by 2 masked individuals. When Bobby arrived at the mall he witnessed the 2 individuals later identified as 15-year-old Jarreth "JJ" Plunkett and 15-year-old Dominique "Dom" Harris.  After making contact with his girlfriend and her friend the four attempted to avoid JJ and Dom by exiting the mall.  African Union urges Mali junta for 'roadmap' back to civilian rule The West African country has been ruled by juntas since back-to-back coups in 2020 and 2021. The African Union on Saturday urged Mali to provide a post-coup transition 'roadmap', warning such a move was needed to steer the country back to democratic rule. Earlier this week Mali's military junta ordered the suspension of all political activities - citing a need to maintain public order - and the African Union expressed "grave concern" at the move, saying it was likely to hinder the return to democracy. The NCDC said this in a situation report for Week 13 published on its website on Friday. Lassa fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic illness transmitted to humans through contact with food or household items contaminated by infected rodents or contaminated persons. Seven drown in Lagos within a week, says PPRO The Lagos State Police Command has said a total number of seven persons have lost their lives to accidental drowning in different parts of the state this week. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this in a statement on Friday. According to him, the incidents were recorded at hotel swimming pools, a beach, and the Third Mainland Bridge. He wrote, “This week alone, seven people drowned in hotel, swimming pools and beach. Rogers was abducted on Thursday night near his residence in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers state.
