 Govt extends search for fleeing 4,000 inmates to IDP camps …to comb villages, towns, environs of fugitive prisoners  The Nigeria Correctional Service has stepped up efforts to track down and recapture escaped inmates of the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, Niger State, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, said the government would relocate a lot of correctional centres to create better infrastructure and security. Tunji-Ojo made the pledge when he visited the Niger custodial centre, where 119 inmates had escaped following a rainstorm that damaged the facility on Wednesday. This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Ozoya Imohimi. The minister said it was imperative to relocate a lot of the correctional centres to a conducive environment. “This facility was built in 1914 to house 250 inmates. FOOTBALL LEGEND 'PELE',TO VISIT NIGERIA AUGUST 11,2016.

                                  The facilitators of the visit,Winihin Jemide Series {WJS} and Youth Experience Days Africa {YEDA},made the disclosure at a news conference in Lagos.This will be Pele's second visit to Nigeria,the first was in 1967 was occasioned by a two-day cease fire during the Nigerian civil war.His visit allowed the warring sides to watch Pele and Santos play an exhibition match in Lagos.Pele whose real names are Edison Arantes do Nascimento,would be in the country from August 1 to August 12 for the programme,tagged ''WJS/YEDA Legend Edition''.The organisers said that programmes line-up for the events were street football tournament that would feature 44 youths selected from the street and sports clinics.Also,there will be a gala night with Pele and other Africa football legends where Pele memorabili would also be auctioned.The facilitators said that proceeds from the auction would be donated to an eligible local youth football academy.The event

Idris,NPM,mni,accompanied by the the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service {NIS},Muhammad Babandede,Comptroller General of the Nigerian Prisons Service {NPS},Ahmed Ja'afar and Commandant General,Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps {NSCDC},Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu..On July 16,2016 paid an official visit too Borno State where he presented food and other relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons {IDPs} at Muna Garage,they were also provided with Police medical services.The IGP used the occasion to pay courtesy call on Borno State governor,His excellency,Gov.Kashim Shettima,the Shehu of Borno,Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Garbai and the Military Officers at Mai Malari Barracks where he was received by the Theatre Commander,Major General Leo Irabor.On the IGP's entourage were the DIG Operations.DID Joshak Abila and other Senior Police officers.More photos below.                          

LAGOS PLANS TODAY,TO UPGRADE 21 SECONDARY SCHOOL LIBRARIES AS STATE DIGITAL LIBRARY TAKES OFF.

                           The Lagos State Government today sunday said that it has concluded plans to upgrade 21 secondary school libraries across all the six education districts in the State,just as it announced the commencement of the State Digital Library project.Special Adviser to the Governor on Education,Mr Obafela Bank-Olemoh who disclosed this in a statement,said that the libraries would be upgraded this year.According to him,the State Government's Private-Public-Partnership initiative tagged Adopt-A-Library was geared towards transforming the State public libraries into modern,ICT-enhanced knowledge centres.He said the Ipaja Public Library has been upgraded while the Ilupeju Public Library was recently upgraded by Custodian & Allied as well as the Herbert Macaulay Library,Yaba,currently under renovation by Guaranty Trust Bank.Bank-Olemoh further said that the libraries and ICT centres at Ireti and Falomo Secondary Schools were recently upgraded by ARM Pensions while C

                                               The Nigerian army reported today sunday that '' As part of the activities marking the Nigerian Army Day Celebrations {NADCEL} 2016,troops involved in live field training exercise code named ''Exercise HARBIN KUNAMA''.have intensified patrol of the various forests in Zamfara State.It is in line with that troops of 223 Battalion while on patrol encountered armed bandits at Madaka village,Maru Local Government Area in which thy killed 9 armed bandits and recovered 3 AK-47 rifles,2 AK-47 rifles magazine,3 rounds of 7.62mm {Special} ammunition,1 machete and 24 motrcycles.Similarly,local vigilantes at Yargada village,Gusau Local Government Area apprehended a fleeing suspected armed bandit and handed him over to troops deployed at Magami.In a related development,troops have also raided a bandit camp at Gangamai village in Dansadau Local Government Area.During the raid there was an exchange of fire between the troops and th
