 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.  Woman Bags Jail Terms for Money Racketeering in Lagos The Lagos Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Friday, March 15, 2024 secured the conviction and sentencing of one Bose Lateef before Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, for an offence bordering on money racketeering.  She was arraigned by the EFCC on a one- count charge bordering on Naira Racketeering under Section 21(4) of the CBN Act. The count reads: “That you, BOSE LATEEF on or about the 16 day of February, 2024 al Eko Club, Surulere, in Lages within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court hawked the sum of N269,000.00 (Two Hundred and Sixty Nine Thousand Naira), in N500 (Five Hundred Naira) denominations, issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria and thereby committed an offence contrary lo 21(4) and punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria Act. 2007."   She pleaded “guilty” to the charge preferred against her.  Following her guilt

 SITUATION REPORT ON THE ATTACK AND KILLING OF MILITARY PERSONNEL ON PEACE MISSION BY OKUOMA COMMUNITY The troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State While on peace mission to OKUOMA community in BOMADI LGA of Delta State were surrounded by some community youths and killed on Thursday, 14 March, 2024.  Lagos man Owiku jailed 10 years for indecent treatment of neighbour’s daughter An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Friday sentenced a man, John Owiku, to 10 years imprisonment for indecent treatment of his neighbour’s 13-year-old daughter. Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced Owiku to 10 years imprisonment, following his plea bargain agreement to the two-count amended charge of indecent treatment of a child and indecent practices. The offences are contrary to Sections135 and 136 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015. The convict had initially been tried on a charge of defiling a 13-year-old survivor sometime in April 2018, before he opted for plea bargain. Oshodi sentenced the convict to seven years imprisonment on the first count of indecent treatment of a child and to three years on count two for indecent practices.  Customs intercepts N500m worth of ammunition concealed in sacks of garri     The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun area 1 command, says it has intercepted 940 rounds of ammunition worth N557,120,828.00. The NCS said the ammunition was concealed in sacks of garri and intercepted in the Idiroko area of the state. Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Ahmadu Shuaibu, the area controller, said the interception occurred on March 14 while the command’s operatives were carrying out anti-smuggling operations along the border line.
