Chukwuma Okpalauzuegbu Is Laid To Rest On Intended wedding Day  By Charity Ejiofor  A day that was meant to mark a joyful union has instead become one of deep sorrow for family, friends, and the Aguata community, following the sudden passing of Hon. Chukwuma Christopher Okpalauzuegbu, the councillor representating Amesi Ward. Hon. Okpalauzuegbu fondly known as Chuma, had been preparing to celebrate his wedding ceremony, an event filled with hope, promise and carefully laid plans. Loved ones, and sponsors, ready to stand beside him as he embark on a new chapter of life. In an unexpected and heart breaking turn of events, those dreams were cut short.                     President of the Senate,Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki,yesterday friday stated that accountability and oversight must be necessary components in the nation's efforts to rehabilitate the insurgency-ravaged North Eas zone.Saraki's statement was in response to the conclusion of the four-day visit by the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights of internally displaced persons {IDPS}, Dr. Chaloka Beyani.The Senate President indicated that he was encouraged to learn that the international community is beginning to pay more attention to suffering in the North East.''We are hopeful about the increasing international attention being shown toward the North Eat.On our part,we need to make sure that our accountability mechanisms generate confidence in our ability to absorb and monitor the delivery of aid material and resource'',he stated.                    The EFCC,on thursday,September 1,opened its doors to journalists,Civil Society Organisations and members of the public.The purpose of the visit was to demonstrate the Commission's commitment to transparency and accountability through a guided tour of its detention facilities by the Deputy Director of Operations,Lagos Zonal Office,Mr Iliyasu Kwarbai.Speaking durng the tour,Kwarbai welcomed the  CSOs and media representatives and assured them that the EFCC is guided by its core values; integrity being chief of them.''We are a group of professionals.We analyze petitions,gather facts and give people fair hearing.We carry out preliminary investigation before inviting anyone.The accused person is invited last''.More photos below.
