  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. JAMAICA: POLICEWOMAN ALLEGEDLY SHOOTS SERGEANT HUSBAND DURING DOMESTIC DISPUTE.(PHOTO).

A  policeman was allegedly shot by his wife, who is also a member of the police force, during a domestic dispute at their home in Old Harbour, St Catherine, this morning. The Police High Command has launched an investigation into the shooting. It is reported that they were at their home in Colbeck Heights in Red Ground when an argument developed around 4:45 a.m. The dispute was reportedly about infidelity. The policewoman reportedly shot her police sergeant husband in the chest The injured 53-year-old was subsequently taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he is admitted.  His 50-year-old wife is now under investigation. - Rasbert Turner

Death leaves a heartache no words can heal.  And today, I express my deepest condolences to David and Chioma, over the death of their beloved son.  Ifeanyi was undoubtedly loved by his parents and family. HUSHPUPPI SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS IN THE UNITED STATES FOR FRAUD. (PHOTO).

Hushpuppi is sentenced to 11 years in the United States. He will spend nine years in prison because he had spent two years already in the US prison. Once released he will be deported to Nigeria.   Born Ramon Olorunwa Abbas, Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai in June 2022 and was extradited to USA over internet fraud and money laundering. After 2 years in custody whiles facing trail, he was convicted awaiting final sentence on November 3, 2022. Judge Otis Wright is expected to give the final sentence on November 3, 2022. According Nigerian journalist Dr Kemi Olunloyo who has been keenly following the trail of Hushpuppi, the judge will give him 11-years sentence. One more photo below.

Musician TakeOff of the Rap Gang Migos reportedly dead. He was shot and killed early this morning in 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻.  Several sources are reporting he was shot over a dice game gone wrong. 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗼𝗳𝗳 died at only 28𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀.  Takeoff, Quavo, and Cardi B's husband Offset make up the group Migos and are blood relatives. It was intially reported that Quavo was also shot but that has been refuted. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.   Watch video and more photos below.

LASCOPA DISMISSES VIRAL SOCIAL MEDIA REPORT ON BAN ON SALE OF PLASTIC BOTTLED DRINKS EXPOSED TO SUNLIGHT The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) has dismissed a viral social media report alleging that the State Government is set to ban the sale of plastic bottled drinks exposed to sunlight. A statement signed by the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo Esq., said that the Agency's plan is to engage sellers and buyers of plastic bottled drinks through advocacy and sensitisation programmes on the dangers inherent in the exposure of plastic bottled drinks to sunlight. Solebo noted that the Lagos State Government has no intention of banning the sale of plastic bottled drinks as stated in the social media report being circulated, saying “The Government is keen on ensuring that both consumers and traders are educated and enlightened on the health hazard of consuming plastic bottled drinks that have been exposed to sunlight”. POLICE ARRESTS ONE FOR ABDUCTION   ⁃ Rescue and reunite victims with their families. Operatives of Surulere Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Austin Kanu ‘m’ aged 51 for abducting four teenage boys.  The victims, one Toheeb ‘m’ aged 16, Isaac ‘m’ aged 16, Chukwuma ‘m’ aged 16 and Idowu ‘m’ aged 18 (surnames withheld) were on October 9, 2022 at about 2010hrs discovered in an isolated place within the National Stadium, Surulere by the Chief Security Officer of the stadium who was on routine patrol and then alerted the police.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect lured the victims from Ogba and Agege to Surulere.  Their parents when contacted confirmed that the boys had been missing since the early hours of October 29, 2022.  Suspect will be arraigned at the conclusion of ongoing investigation.  The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, fdc enjoins Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious happening to security agencies.   SP BENJAMI

EFCC Docks Driver for Alleged Illegal Mining Activities in Kwara The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 arraigned a 46-year-old truck driver, Kasimu Bawa, for offences bordering on illegal mining and possession of minerals without lawful authority. Mining without license is a criminal offence and an act of economic sabotage. Kasimu was prosecuted on amended one-count charge before Justice Muhammed Sani of the Federal High Court sitting in Ilorin. He was the driver of the truck conveying the minerals allegedly purchased without license by the Chinese National, Dang Deng, who had been convicted and sentenced to 5years imprisonment on October 19, 2022 by same court. The defendant was arrested by operatives of the EFCC on September 9, 2022 at Share along Tsaragi Road in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State with a truck containing 25 tons of minerals suspected to be products of illegal activities worth the sum of N2.4

Fire Guts Mikano Building in Lagos   A building on Adeola Odeku Street on Victoria Island, Lagos has been gutted by fire on Tuesday.   The Lagos State firefighters have confirmed that they are at the scene via their Twitter handle and working to quench the fire. Eyewitness reports confirm two dead and others with varying degrees of injuries. Those injured have been rushed to the hospital.  Watch the video below.

Naira Redesign: You Must Put Arabic Sign On Every Note - MURIC To CBN Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has supported the move by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to redesign the naira. However, the Islamic human rights organization gave the condition that Arabic Ajami must be inscribed on all naira denominations. MURIC stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday by the group’s director, Professor Ishaq Akintola. Tinubu consoles Davido over son's death Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his wife Senator Oluremi Tinubu have condoled with Davido and Chioma over the death of their son Ifeanyi. Tinubu, in a condolence message on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, asked that God grants Davido and Chioma the fortitude and strength to deal with this painful tragedy. The Nation reports that Ifeanyi drowned in the family's swimming pool on Monday night while his parents were on a trip to Ibadan for a family function. The Lagos Police Command, while confirming the death of Ifeanyi, revealed that all members of Davido’s domestic staff are in their custody. Soludo Orders Arrest Of Two Anambra Billionaires over State’s Revenue Diversion Barring any change of orders, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra state has ordered the immediate arrest of some prominent citizens of Anambra state over flying revenue windows in their control if they refuse to appear before the Chairman, flying revenue committee, Anambra State and Deputy Governor of Anambra state by Wednesday this week.
