The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. He revealed that he was involved in a serious car accident luckily survived with only minor injuries. Posting a video of the incident, Chizzy expressed his gratitude to God for his second chance at life.  Rivers: Police rescue hotelier held by kidnappers despite collecting N25m ransom ….Abductors shot the victim thrice, kept him in a forest in Rivers for about three weeks Detectives of the Rivers Police Command have rescued a popular Port Harcourt-based hotelier who was kidnapped and shot thrice by his abductors despite collecting N25 million as ransom from his family. Rivers Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu told journalists during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday that the hotelier was kidnapped on December 19, 2023, and was shot three times before he was abducted. CP Disu said despite collecting a total ransom of N25 million as ransom from members of the hotelier’s family, the kidnappers refused to release him and kept him in the den where he was nursing the gunshot injuries for three weeks.  ASUU Gives Scholarships To 6 Indigent UI Students *** Six students, on Tuesday, benefited from the 2023 Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Indigent Students’ Scholarship Award, presented by the University of Ibadan, UI, branch of the union. The awards, divided into national and branch categories, were presented at the institution. The national award of ₦200,000 each was presented to two students by the Ibadan Zonal Coordinator of the union, Professor Oyebamiji Oyegoke. The branch award of ₦100,000 each was, however, presented to four other students by different members of the union. Mr Oyegoke, also of ASUU, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso branch, commended the UI branch for its contributions and faithful representation of the union. President Bola Tinubu has approved a massive cost-cutting exercise across federal establishments, including the Presidency. Briefing State House correspondents on the exercise, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, said the crux of the directive was to reduce cost on official trips.  According to the directive, security outfits within states will frontline the  protective details of the President, the Vice President, the First Lady and the Second Lady on local trips.  By the directive, only 4 members of staff are to accompany each Minister on international trips, and 2 in the case of heads of agencies.
