Rescues 13 Children From Traffickers, Arrests Suspects By OCHA Brigade Media  13 children have been rescued from suspected child traffickers in Otolo Nnewi by a joint taskforce of Operation Clean And Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade and Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs. The joint taskforce also confiscated fake documents that aided the trafficking.  The children were found malnourished and have been denied education.  Report say that the trafficker adopts and sold children to people from different parts of the country. EFCC Alerts Public on ATM Swapping Fraud The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,  EFCC, has been inundated with barrage of complaints from well- meaning Nigerians concerning unauthorized withdrawals from their bank accounts, which investigations by the Commission have linked  to Automated Teller Machine,  ATM, Debit Card swapping or fraud. The modus operandi of fraudsters involved in this nefarious practice involves keeping a debit card of the same bank, and in the guise of helping a confused bank customer at any ATM point, swaps the card in such a hurry that the customer would not notice and at the same time memorises the pin used in trying the fake cards.  These cards get stocked in the machine due to a wrong pin and the fraudster quickly abandons the victim, advising him/ her to report to the bank while making away with the victim's card to make immediate withdrawals from the account. Edo man Abubakar Abdulrahman caught with fully loaded military pistol Operatives of Edo State Police Command have recovered a fully loaded military service pistol from a 28-year-old man, Abubakar Abdulrahman at his residence in Bieneja Community, South-Ibie, Etsako West local government area of the State. According to the Command’s Spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the suspect was arrested with the Para Pistol with breach No. TH10518 and 13 rounds of 9mm live ammunition on 5 November 2023. According to him, detectives at the firearms section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), acted on credible intelligence, stormed the suspect’s residence, arrested and recovered the firearm from him. “The suspect made a statement and confessed that he stole the pistol and its ammunition from the house of a retired Colonel from the Nigeria Army who is currently based in the United States of America on medical holiday. “The suspect will soon be charged to court,” Nwabuzor said.

ECOWAS condemns attempt to truncate democratic govt in Sierra Leone Anationwide curfew was declared yesterday by Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio after unidentified gunmen attacked military barracks in the West African nation’s capital, Freetown. This is as the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) condemned the plot by some individuals to disturb the peace of the West African country. Oshoala, Nnadozie shortlisted as finalists for CAF award Ahead of the 2023 CAF awards scheduled to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 11, Super Falcons players – Asisat Oshoala and Chiamaka Nnadozie have been listed among the final ten nominees for the CAF women’s Player of the Year award. The apex football body in Africa made this known on Monday via its X account. Earlier, CAF announced the full list of nominees for the award comprising Nnadozie, Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne and Christy Ucheibe. Oshoala in 2022 beat Zambia’s Grace Chanda and Ajara Nchout Njoya of Cameroon to claim the CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for the fifth time.  Lagos state government crushes 1500 seized motorcycles The Lagos state government on Monday, November 27, crushed 1500 seized motorcycles. The state Comissioner of Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary to the ministry, Wale Musa, inspected the crushing of the 1500 seized motorcycles at the premises of the Lagos State Taskforce.  The Lagos state government shared photos on its X handle on Monday, November 27. "Commissioner for #lagosMOT1, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi with the Permanent Secretary, Mr Wale Musa, at the crushing of 1500 seized commercial motorcycles at the Lagos State Taskforce premises on Monday, 27th of November 2023." The state government banned the use of motorcycles in so parts of the state in 2022 and have since seized a number of motorcycles whose riders faulted the ban. More photos below.

This picture was taken two weeks ago when I visited my cousin Amaechi Monagor (Aguiyi) at the Nnewi teaching hospital. I initially had wanted to quietly assist the much I could, but later decided to make this post to clarify on some things so that my friends, fans and Amaechi's fans and indeed the online community can be better informed. 1. Amaechi is currently down with kidney disease, diabetes and stroke. He had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life. 2. He is presently undergoing weekly dialysis and other treatments at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University teaching hospital Nnewi. 3. His family had been shouldering the costs for years, until the recent stroke made his case more serious and indeed more expensive to battle alone, hence the publicity. 4. Groom kills 4 People During Wedding, Including His Bride A Thai para-athlete and former soldier shot his bride and three others before killing himself on his wedding day. Chaturong Suksuk, 29 and Kanchana Pachunthuek, 44, were married over the weekend in north-east Thailand. According to reports, he left the wedding party abruptly and returned with a gun, shooting his wife, her 62-year-old mother and 38-year-old sister. Stray bullets hit two guests, who were taken to hospital. One of them died. Police said, Chaturong "was quite intoxicated at the time", but his motive remains unclear. He had bought the gun and ammunition legally last year. Thai media, citing what guests at the party told the police, said the couple had an argument during the party. It also reported that Chaturong had felt insecure about the age gap between him and Kanchana. 3 Palestinian Students Shot Near US Campus The families of three Palestinian students shot in the US state of Vermont have urged police to investigate the attack as a hate crime. Hisham Awartani, Tahseen Ahmed and Kinnan Abdalhamid were confronted and shot by a man near University of Vermont Campus, Burlington police said. Officers are investigating a possible motive, but say the victims were wearing keffiyeh - a traditional scarf - and speaking Arabic when attacked. A suspect has been arrested. Rivers Crisis: 'If Fubara is Thinking That Wike is Going to Forgive Him, He's Just Joking' — Maxwell Opara Maxwell Opara, a lawyer, has emphasised the unforgiving nature of political conflicts, specifically referencing situations in Rivers, Ondo, and Edo. He suggested that politicians, like Wike, won't easily forgive perceived betrayals or opposition. Opara indicated that if Fubara believes Wike will forgive him, he is mistaken. During the interview with AIT, Opara implied that political dynamics, such as potential impeachment scenarios, can impact alliances and support for second tenures. According to him, "That of Rivers, that of Ondo, and that of Edo, once, politicians will never forgive. So if Fubara is thinking that Wike is going to forgive him, he's just joking. It’s sad judiciary now entangled in politics – Kukah The Archbishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, has decried the involvement of the judiciary in politics. Kukah spoke at the 8th House of Justice Summit in Kaduna, where he was keynote speaker at the weekend. Speaking on the summit  theme: ‘Electoral Accountability and Democratic Stability,’ Kakuh said it was unfortunate that the Nigerian judiciary had become entangled in politics “I am saddened by the fact that the judiciary has now found itself being sucked into politics. “Elections will always give us what I call unintended consequences but it is also important to understand that a contest is always a contest and you use the experience of this to prepare for the next contest,” he added.
