  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   Halima Abubakar Quits Nollywood Popular actress, Halima Abubakar has disclosed that she is quitting the movie industry. The actress through her management, made the announcement in an Instagram post on Monday. The post read: “Halima Abubakar quits acting. We are so grateful for all the prayers, God bless you all. We love you all. Thank you for your support. She is so downcast. She really did love acting.” This comes after Halima announced on Instagram that she had been treating an undisclosed illness for a long time. The actress also accused the founder of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide Apostle Johnson Suleman of being responsible for the illness. Halima began her acting career in 2001. ABIODUN increases quarterly payment to N600m Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has said that his administration has paid over N70bn as gratuity and pension to retirees in the last three and a half years. The governor who stated this at Ijebu-Ode during the Town Hall Meeting on   the 2023-2025 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and 2023 Budget for Ogun East Senatorial District also said the quarterly payment for pensioners had been increased from N500m to N600m. Around 60 Nigerian students of a private university in India, have fled the campus after they were allegedly thrashed and abused by Indian counterparts on the football field and in their hostel on Friday, October 14, 2022.  The Nigerian students of GD Goenka University in Gurugam, said they feared for their lives and are staying in various places of Delhi for the time being.   According to Times of India report, the students said they have also sought the Nigerian embassy's intervention. The "temporary" decision to leave comes almost a month after a group of Indian students staged a protest against their Nigerian counterparts for offering prayers on the football ground.   The protesting students, who shouted "Jai Shri Ram" slogans, had lodged a complaint with the registrar, asking the authorities to ensure the Nigerians offered namaz only in their hostel rooms.   The matter was resolved amicably, police and the university had said then.   On Sunday, October 16,

Zamfara: Police Confirm One Man Dead, 18 Others Injured As APC, PDP Youths Clash The Police Command in Gusau, Zamfara on Sunday confirmed the killing of one man and 18 others sustained injuries during a clash by members of two youth groups. The Police said the groups were suspected to be members of  APC and PDP in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Muhammad Shehu, gave the confirmation in an SMS message to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gusau on Sunday. Shehu, who confirmed that the command had received a report of the killing, said: “discreet investigation into the case has commenced aimed at ensuring that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law.”

17th Monday October 2022. STUDENT ARRESTED FOR POSSESSING HOME MADE FIREARM. 20 year old Kala Joshua Wialu who claimed to be a student of Della Sale High School was arrested today with a home made firearm in his posession.   Members of the NCD Dog unit recovered the weapon when they stopped and frisked him at the Gerehu Bus Stop today. He was detained and will be charged for illegally possessing a firearm. More photos below.

The priests, who were still in their residence in the parish, failed to come out to conduct the service on Sunday morning. Their action, it was gathered, was in obedience to the directive of the Bishop. Also, the diocesan priests allegedly posted to the parish were also not seen, hence, leading to the congregation conducting the service themselves without any presiding priest. EFCC Arraigns Man for Alleged N30m Fraud in Lagos The Lagos Zonal Command of the EFCC on October 17, 2022, arraigned one Ofozie Chris Onyedikachi before Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a one-count charge bordering on stealing to the tune of N30,000,000 (Thirty Million Naira).
