 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. COURT ORDERS INTERIM FORFEITURE OF FIRM'S N5.3B.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

 Court Orders Interim Forfeiture of Firm’s N5.3b   Justice Tijanni Garba Ringim of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, ordered the interim forfeiture of the sum of N5, 318,517,789.48 found in the account of a company, Kaiser Strategic Services Limited.   Justice Ringim gave the order, following an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.   Moving the application on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, counsel to the Commission, Rotimi Oyedepo, told the court that the money was deposited in three accounts in tranches of N1,407,182,797.00, N2,275,525,493.17 and N1,635,809,499.31.   He, therefore, urged the court to order the interim forfeiture of the fund to the Federal Government in the interim.   Consequently, Justice Ringim ordered the interim forfeiture of the money and also directed the publication of same in any national newspaper for any interested party to appear before the court, within 14 days, to sh

BOKO HARAM ATTACKS RANN,BOENO,KILLS 17 PEOPLE,BURN HOUSES.{PHOTO}.

Boko Haram terrorists and Islamic State-aligned fighters have invaded Rann community in Borno State, killing at least 17 people, including a soldier and an aid worker. Security and militia sources told AFP on Tuesday that hundreds of fighters from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) stormed the town of Rann on the border with Cameroon, pushing troops out of a base and occupying the town for several hours. The attack provoked a mass exodus of residents towards Cameroon before the Nigerian troops regained the town with aerial support. ISWAP which split from Boko Haram in 2016 has been consolidating its control since the death in May of Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau in clashes between the two rival factions. Heavily-armed fighters "came in around 1:30 am on foot like a swarm of locusts and overwhelmed soldiers who had to abandon their base", said an anti-jihadist militia leader in the town. The Federal Government has threatened to show a red card to television and radio stations in Nigeria for alleged breach of broadcast ethics. The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made this known while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Sal Island, Cape Verde. The PUNCH reports the National Broadcasting Commission recently invited presenters of Channels Television and threatened to sanction the broadcast station over an interview with Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom. He said any station that violated the broadcast code and ethics would be “shown the red card. “We agree that there are challenges but the government is doing its best in addressing insecurity, banditry, insurrections, and fixing the economy. “What one expected from these leaders at this trying period is support and encouragement.

ZAMFARA SHUT DOWN SCHOOLS OVER BANDITRY ATTACK.{PHOTO}.

Zamfara State Government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew throughout the 14 local government areas in the state. The government has also shut down schools, both private and public, operating in all the local governments in the state. The measure came on the heels of bandits’ invasion of Kaya town in Maradun Local Area of the state on Wednesday morning, where a yet-to-be-ascertained number of pupils were abducted from the Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State where the governor, Bello Matawalle, hails from. The school, according to an indigene of the area, Abu Kaya, shas about 300 students, a large number of whom were taken by the bandits who had arrived the school at about 11:00A.M on Wednesday when the school was in session. According to TVC News, the curfew is from eight o’clock in the evening to seven o’clock in the morning “The move, according to authorities, is to control the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping in the state,”

Bandits have abducted students of a Secondary School in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State. Details of the incident are still sketchy but the armed men were said to have broken into the school on Wednesday morning. A resident of the community told our correspondent that the armed men stormed the school around 11:30am when the students were writing examination. “They blocked the doors to the classrooms and asked the students to step out.” “Some of the students managed to escape the assault by jumping out of classrooms through the windows to hide inside nearby sorghum plantations,” the resident said. The number of the students kidnapped can not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report but the abducted female students tend outnumber the male ones because the school is mixed. The development comes a few days after some students abducted in the state regained freedom.

Edmond Kipng’etich, a form four (SSS 1) student from Kuresoi South, Nakuru County of Kenya, has been killed after being caught sleeping with a married woman. The 19-year-old student was accosted and stabbed with a sword by one Japheth Bii, who caught him red-handed sleeping with his 35-year-old wife. He was said to have succumbed to injuries inflicted on him while being attended to at Rift Valley General Hospital. Kuresoi DCIO, Peter Obonyo confirmed the incident and also revealed that the incident was reported at Olenguruone police station where a probe was immediately launched, hours before the 19-year-old student succumbed to the sword injuries inflicted on him. Obonyo said;  “It was reported that Edmond Kipng’etich ,19, a form four student was found in the house of Bii allegedly having an extra marital act with his wife Judy Chelang’at who is about 35. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a reshuffle in the cabinet formed on August 21, 2019.
