 Noise pollution: Lagos seals five churches, 19 hotels The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has temporarily shut down no fewer than five churches and 19 hotels over noise pollution between March 23 and April 26  Calculations by our correspondent also showed that no fewer than four markets and shopping complexes were also shut down over noise pollution and other environmental infractions. The churches that have been temporarily sealed include St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lord’s Catholic Church, Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries, God’s Porch Ministries, and an unnamed Catholic Church Some of the hotels affected are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel and Suites, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel and Suites, and Lekki Hotel and Suites. POLICE ARRESTED A ARMED ROBBER WITH A TOY GUN AT ITEDO,LEKKI.{PHOTO}.

                                                              Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested an alleged armed robber,Sunday Onjefu,27,who specialises in attacking women.The suspect was said to have been arrested at Itedo Bus Stop,Lekki while attempting to dispossess a young woman of her handbag.It was gathered that policemen attached to the Maroko Division who sighted the suspect,swiftly moved to the scene and caught him.According to the police,two toy pistols and a knife were found on him,which he confessed to have been using to rob his victims.Spokesperson for the command,Dolapo Badmos,a Superintendent of Police {SP} who confirmed the arrest,said the matter has been transferred to the Special Anti-Robbery Squard {SARS} for further action.

                         Lagos State Government has paid the sum of four million Naira to one Mr Monday Imoni as compensation for his property that was demolished for planned road construction exercise embarked upon to create new access roads for motorists and pedestrians in Orelope area of Alimosho Local Government.The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure,Engineer Ganiyu Johnson presented the cheque to Mr Imoni,owner of the building located at 6,Fadahunsi Drive,Gbeleyi,Pipeline,at his Alaua office.The affected building was found within the Right of Way {ROW} thereby obstructing the on-going works for the rehabilitation/upgrading of Isiba Oluwo Street in Alimosho Local Government.While presenting the cheque to Monday Imoni in his office in the presence of his lawyer,Engr Ganiyu Johnson thanked Imoni for his understanding and love for the infrastructural development of the State and the spirit of love for others.Johnson therefore implored others whose property may fall withing the

                    According to PM news,an attempt by the members of the #BringBackOurGirls group to march to Aso Rock was halted today monday by a combined force of policemen and officials of the Department of State Security {DSS}.The marchers who had planned to march to Aso Rock and deliver a message to President Muhammadu Buhari to act swiftly to save the more than 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in 2014 and believed to be hidden in Sambisa Forest,were halted at the Independence Avenue Abuja.The group had declared a 14-day line up of activities to make the Buhari administration act quickly to rescue the girls,sat on the road and played protest music after the police stopped them.More photos below.

                       According to CCTV,hundreds of Ugandan twins have gathered in the capital Kampala to celebrate an annual festival.The twins,together with their families and friends,came out to share their life's experiences.At the invite-only event,twins from all walks of life and various ages are treated to a sumtuos luncheon,various fun activities and competitive games.The 2016 Uganda's Twins festival was hosted at Kyadondo Rugby Ground yesterday sunday.Wow this is nice because my elder sisters are twins too.More photos below.

AMBODE APPROVES N15.5 MILLION FOR FINAL YEAR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE READY.SET.WORK PROGRAM.

                         Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has approved the sum of N15.5 million as seed funding and grants for final year students enrolled in the Ready.Set.Work {RSW} program.Ready.Set.Work is an entrepreneurship and employability training program for final year students of tertiary institutions in Lagos State,aimed at preparing them for economic productivity as value-creating employees or employers of labour.Commencing in June 2016,five hundred {500} promising final year students from Lagos State University {LASU},Lagos State Polytechnic {LASPOTECH}, amd Lagos State College of Health Technology {LASCOHET} have been enrolled in a rigorous curriculum either in the employability track or the entrepreneurship track.At the end of the program,over 90 top performing students in the employability track will be placed in 6-month internship positions with organizations like PwC,SystemSpecs,FCMB,GTBank,Access Bank,TOTAL,Jobberman,Stutern,among others.With Governor Ambode

                    A notorious prison in Colombia allowed 17 of it inmates to recently get married to their long-term girlfriends.According to sources the mass ceremony at the Carcel Villa Hermosa prison in Cali,Colombia saw the couples sign up to spend the rest of their lives together,once their husbands have completed their jail terms.The 17 brides,all dressed in white,entered the prison and made their way through a series of barred gates before entering a large hall in the prison.One of the inmates Oscar Ivan Henao,39,had planned to get married to Magda Gonzalez,31,after she fell pregnant.The couple were ready for the ceremony in April until Henao became suddenly and unexpectedly indisposed after being convicted of 'attempted extortion'.Wow.More photos below.
