BENUE LINKS ABDUCTION: GOVT CONFIRMS ABDUCTION OF 10 PASSENGERS, SAYS 20 OTHERS SAFE The Benue State government has confirmed the abduction of 10 passengers from two Benue Links vehicles near Okene, Kogi State who were abducted while on their way to Lagos on Sunday. The Government has also said that 20 others including two drivers and 18 other passengers that were part of the incident were safe and have reached their destination, in Lagos. It was learnt that the suspected kidnappers have made contact with family members of the abductees, demanding an undisclosed amount of money as ransom. Gateman impregnates 3 students in Anambra mission college  Queen’s Convent Awka, Anambra state, has been thrown into crisis as a gateman employed by the school authorities, allegedly, impregnated three students in the secondary school. The students, it was learnt, are of Senior School (SS2) class, in the college owned by the Anglican Diocese of Awka. According to sources, one of the girls impregnated almost committed suicide by attempting to jump down from the upstairs of the hostel if not that she was prevented by her colleagues and teachers. “I was told that the students of the college have been complaining to the school authorities over the activities of the gateman, but they refused to do anything. How fire outbreak caused nationwide blackout – Power minister Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, says fire outbreak caused the collapse of the power grid which threw the entire nation into a blackout on Thursday. There was total blackout across the country following the collapse of Nigeria’s electricity grid early Thursday morning. The grid collapsed totally around 12:40 a.m, leading to the massive loss of supply to power distributors nationwide. But the Minister, who gave details of what led to the development in a Facebook posts on Thursday, explained that a fire outbreak at Kainji/Jebba located in the North-central caused the blackout. According to Adelabu, “At 00:35Hrs this morning, a fire outbreak with explosion sound was observed on Kainji/Jebba 330kV line 2 (Cct K2J) blue phase CVT & Blue phase line Isolator of Kainji/Jebba 330kV line 1 was observed burning. This led to sharp drops in frequency from 50.29Hz to 49.67 Hz at 0:35:06Hrs with Jebba generation loss of 356.63MW. “

We’ve stopped our personnel from entering vehicles of offenders - FRSC The corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Biu, has said that all personnel of the agency have been barred from entering the vehicles of offenders during seizure. In a statement released, FRSC spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, said Biu made the clarification while dismissing a “wrongly couched” memo currently making the rounds. He stated that the memo in question relates to a directive issued to commanding officers, which called for an end to the practice of placing patrol operatives in the vehicles of offenders during impoundment. The spokesperson said the original directive was issued in a memo dated September 12 2023, with reference FRSC/HQ/OPS/94/VOLXVI/094. He added that the memo was titled: ‘Immediate ban on the placing of staff in offenders vehicles to escort for Impoundment’. “This was however, interpreted as a complete ban on the impoundment of vehicles by the corps.
