The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.           T​he Inspector-General of Police (IG), Ibrahim Idris, ​yesterday spoke on the ​​November 18 Anambra election and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. ​Idris said he was confident that the election would be successful because the threat posed by IPOB had been curbed. It would be recalled that the pro-Biafra group had vowed to frustrate the election. Speaking with senior officers in Abuja, Idris said​ “return of normalcy following the excesses of these IPOB has made it easy for us to ensure that the Anambra election is peaceful.” He disclosed that all police commands across the country would be involved in the provision of security for the poll. “The greatest challenge we are having now is the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.        The Anambra Government on Wednesday said it sacked two school principals for collection of unapproved fees. Prof. Kate Omenugha, the Commissioner for Education made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka. According to the commissioner, the action is to rid the education system in the state of corruption. The commissioner, who declined mentioning the names of the sacked teachers and their respective schools, said the move was also to demonstrate governmen’s position in the fight against corruption and impunity by public servants. She said that the sacked teachers collected illegal fees from students against government position, noting that the present administration had zero tolerance for corruption. The commissioner said that under her watch, all bad eggs would be weeded off the education system. The accelerated promotion wa s due to observed outstanding qualities of military professionalism such as gallantry and dedication to service demonstrated by the Non–Commissioned Officer.          The Court of Appeal, Kebbi Division has upturned the judgment of a Kebbi State High Court which discharged and acquitted a Kebbi State Accountant-General, Mohammed Arzika Dakingari, on charges of conspiracy and obtaining by false pretence preferred against him and one other by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. He, among other things allegedly used his office as the Accountant-General, Kebbi State for person al enrichment to the tune of N1.6billion.Dakingari was charged alongside Musa Yusuf, Managing Director, Beal Construction Nigeria Limited; a company owned by him (Dakingari) and used in award various contracts to himself.Dakingari’s stake in Beal Construction Limited is contrary to civil service regulation which forbids serving officers from owning businesses. Findings by the EFCC at the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, showed that Mohammed Bashir Mohammed, Anwal Sadat and Nasir Mohammed, all sons of the Accountant-General, are directors of the company

         The Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday cleared the nominee of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the position of the Chief Justice of the state, Hon. (Justice) Opeyemi Olufunmilayo Oke. Justice Oke was appointed as the Acting Chief Judge of the state two months ago after the retirement of the former Chief Justice of the state, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade. Ambode had earlier sent a letter for the clearance of the Chief Judge to the House of Assembly as stipulated by the law. With the appointment, Justice Oke becomes the third consecutive female Chief Justice of the state after Justice Ayotunde Phillips and Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade both retired. The Chief Justice however, took time to answer the questions put across to her by the lawmakers, just as she threw her weight behind the death penalty to serve as a deterrent to others.            Some years ago, Hummer Jeeps were so much valued in Nigeria that a "man can even be imprisoned for scratching the luxury car" Despite being what it is, the car seems to have moved out of fashion as some Hummer Jeep owners are now using them to "less important" services such as this. According to an online user, this luxury Hummer H2 was spotted being used to convey bamboo sticks from a timber market in the eastern part of the country. Funny enough, people around seemed to be moving about their business without giving a second look.Note: don't get too attach to material things.One more photo below.
