  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Gov El'Rufai Terminates KASTLEA Corps Marshal's Appointment The Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has terminated the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer and Corps Marshal of Kaduna State Traffic and Environmental Law Enforcement Agency (KASTLEA) Major Garba Yahaya Rimi (Rtd).  This was made known in a letter signed by Muhammad Bashir Umar, made available to newsmen  The Governor thanked Yahaya Rimi for the services he rendered to the state Government, while instructing him to hand over Government properties that are in his possession, to the relevant authorities. The reason for the termination of his appointment is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filling this report.   One more photo below.

The very first birthday cards from The King and The Queen Consort have been delivered to hundreds of people celebrating their 100th and 105th birthdays across the United Kingdom. Several veterans of the Second World War are recipients of the first birthday cards from Their Majesties, including Glaswegian born Ruth Park-Pearson, who served in the Women's Royal Naval Service (the WRENS) and now lives in North Yorkshire. Ruth celebrated her birthday on Friday, surrounded by many of her 6 children, 13 grandchildren and 25 grandchildren.  The posting of messages to mark significant birthdays and anniversaries is a tradition that dates back to 1917 and the reign of King George V, when those celebrating their 100th birthday or 60th wedding anniversary were sent a telegram of good wishes from His Majesty.  A total of 542 stranded Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) evacuated by the Federal Government arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe Int'l Airport Abuja on board the MaxAirLtd Charted flight. The evacuees consisted of 79 males, 460 females and 3 infants. The plane touched down at 4:29 am today 23/10/2022. The evacuees consisted of 79 males, 460 females and 3 infants. /2. In an exclusive interview with the   Jamaica Observer   on Wednesday, Prince Ermias, a grandson of the late Emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie   —   who Rastafarians regard as divine   —   said he is disappointed by a lack of unity among members of the faith. Anambra Government Asks Hoteliers To Register Their Hotels, Other Hospitality Outfits  Anambra State Government has directed hoteliers and owners of hospitality facilities operating without registering their facilities, to kindly register with their Anambra State Identification Number at the sum of two thousand naira and as well obtain operational licence. The DPO is to report at the state police command for debriefing. The spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who brought her plight to social media, said the young lady cannot remember her family but remembers only her name and her age.
