 STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE  PRESIDENT TINUBU APPOINTS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS OF TWO AGENCIES  President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr. Innocent Bariate Barikor as the Director-General of the National Environmental Standards and Regulation Enforcement Agency (NESREA). The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is reportedly set to be the agency that will license and regulate social media platforms, online news outlets and content creators in the country. In a post sighted by Native Reporters, the federal government seeks to give NBC power to license and regulate Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Triller and Snapchat. The validity of the licence in the first instance is for a period of two years, and when the licence expires, the commission will consider an application for renewal based on “compliance to the terms and conditions of the licence” as formulated by the commission.

NIGERIA RE-ELECTED INTO THE AFRICAN UNION PEACE AND SECURITY COUNCIL (AU-PSC): ADDIS ABABA The Federal Republic of Nigeria has been re-elected into the African Union Peace and Security Council (AUPSC) for another three (3) year mandate (2022-2025), to represent the West African region. Nigeria pulled 44 votes in the first round to secure the statutory 2/3 votes required to win the election. His Excellency, Victor A. Adeleke is the Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union and represents Nigeria in this important Council at the Permanent Representatives level. The election of the 15-member Council held on 3rd February, 2022 during the 40th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union (Ministers of Foreign Affairs) in Addis Ababa. Governor Zulum reopens Dikwa, Ngamboru Ngala Road for Commuter. ...Donated Eighteen Patrol vehicles. Borno Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, mni, has officially flagged up the reopening of maiduguri, Dikwa Ngala highway for commuters to fly the road without escort with a view to boost economic activities to sustain resettlement in the area.  The symbolic reopening of the road was done at Muna before the governor proceeded to Dikwa town ensure that the road has formally reopened.  While addressing commuters road transport union members and security operatives that man the road Governor Babagana Umara Zulum said government has put in place adequate arraignment to ensure sustainability of the road to remain opened and charged drivers and passengers to co-operate with the military and other security outfits,  The Governor also presented Ten patrol vehicles to the military four to each the civilian JTF and hunters in addition with cash support to boost their mmorals. A young woman has told the heartbreaking story of her boyfriend who left her after he paid her bride price. In the video that the young woman posted, she says that she and the man had been together for years before he moved to Italy. They had a great relationship until after their marriage introduction. Then, the man in question became a snub. She wrote; “Since 2015 we have been dating. He travelled to Spain to hustle in 2018. Came back December 2021 did introduction and travel back. Everything was going fine till this January …to pick my calls is problewm.. he don’t call for any reason. Never been pain like this. What should I do guys. Disturbances: Eze Enugwu-Ukwu, Ekpeh Pronounces One Month Ban For 9 Nkwo Market Traders Following the disruption of market activities by some traders at Nkwo market, Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka local government area of Anambra state on Thursday, 3rd February, 2022, the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Igwe Sir Ralph Obumnaeme Ekpeh has made a royal pronouncement banning 9 traders from operating in the market for a month.
