 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. EFCC Arrests Six Internet Fraud Suspect in Enugu Operatives of the Enugu Zonal Command of the EFCC on Thursday April 28, 2022, arrested six suspected internet fraudsters. The suspects: Onyia Henry Ikenna, Ome Kelvin Uchechukwu, Uzu Onyedikachi Sunday, Mathew Kelechukwu Offor, Ikechukwu Mamah Patrick and Udeh Henry Ikenna were arrested at No. 1 Ekenedilichukwu Street, New Haven Extension, Enugu, following credible intelligence on their alleged fraudulent activities. Items recovered from them include several mobile phones, laptops and one car.  More photos below.

Justice Elias Abua of the Cross River State High Court sitting in Calabar, Cross River State, has convicted and sentenced two former bankers: Titus Chima Nwankwo and Utibe-Abasi Ifiok George  for stealing the sum of N2,900,000( Two Million, Nine Hundred Thousand Naira only)  from the account of a deceased customer of a commercial bank. Nwankwo and George  were jailed  on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 after pleading guilty to  one-count separate charges  bordering on forgery, conspiracy, breach of trust and stealing, upon their arraignment by the Uyo Zonal Command of the EFCC. In view of their pleas, prosecution counsel, Joshua Abolarin prayed the court to convict and sentence the defendants accordingly.

The prompt arrest of the suspects followed a tip-off from Lagosians to the Divisional Police Officer of Ilemba Hausa Division who led his men to the criminal hideout where seven members of the gang were arrested while others fled. As LASG Rejigs Ambulance Service for Prompt Medical Emergency Response A pregnant woman, who fell into labour along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, while in transit on a public bus from Awoyaya in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government to Orile, has been delivered of a baby by Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) officials. The woman, 27-year-old Shukarat Isa, a resident of 30 Akin Akinsheyinwa Street, Awoyaya, Lagos and the male child weighing 3.3kg, have since been taken to the Ikate Health Centre for further care and management. A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation in the State, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, said repair work on the Abule Nla Level Crossing is scheduled to commence on Saturday, 30th of April, the works on the Brewery and Gaskiya sections will take place on the 1st of May, while that of Navy Dockyard is slated for the 2nd, adding that all diversions on the roads will be done at night time from 9:30 pm to 6:00 am on the scheduled dates in order to minimise inconvenience to motorists.
