 MAN SENTENCED TO 16 YEARS FOR MURDER IN JOSEFA VILLAGE A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 16 years’ direct imprisonment for the murder of 40-year-old Jabulani Kabide in Josefa Village, Saselamani. Siphiwe Hlungwani was sentenced by the Thohoyandou High Court on Monday, 24 August 2026, after being convicted of murder. The court heard that Hlungwani allegedly stole a cellphone from a relative of Kabide’s family. When the cellphone owner reported the theft to Hlungwani’s mother, he allegedly became aggressive and threatened her. Kabide, who was the cellphone owner’s cousin, confronted Hlungwani, leading to an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation. Hlungwani’s mother later allegedly warned the cellphone owner to hide, saying her son had left the house armed with a knife and intended to kill her. CALL LAGOS STATE APC TO ORDER, LABOUR PARTY CHARGES BUHARI. The Chairman of Lagos State Labour Party (LP), Comrade Kayode Ezekiel Salako has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security agencies to call Lagos State APC to order over incessant harassment of Labour Party in the state. Salako made this call on Tuesday at a press conference to unveil the 24-man Executive Committee of Labour Party in Lagos State.
