EFCC TASKFORCE ARRESTS 34 SUSPECTED CURRENCY SPECULATORS IN ABUJA. (PHOTOS). #PRESS RELEASE.

 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RESIDENT DOCTORS,SUSPENDED IT'S NATIONWIDE STRIKE TODAY.

                  According to the President of the National Association of Resident Doctors {NARD},Dr Mohammad Askira,made the discosure today saturday in Abuja while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the association's National Executive Council meeting held yesterday friday.He said that the strike was suspended to enable the federal government implement the agreement reached with the association on or before July 14,adding that the doctors would resume work on July 27,He said that the meeting also resolved to review the progress of government intervention at the next NEC meeting of the association scheduled for July 25 to 30 in Keffi for appropriation action.Askira expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for his promise to implement all the agreement reached between the association and the government.He commended the president for directing the Minister of Health to resolve the impasse in the best interest of Nigerians.One more photo below

MORE THAN 2,000 MIGRANTS,WERE RESCUED OFF THE ITALIAN COAST,YESTERDAY.

                                According to an Italian source,Ship crews pulled more than 2,000 migrants from over-crowed boats in the Mediterranean yesterday friday,as people smugglers stepped up operations during two consecutive days of good weather.More than 7,100 people have now been plucked from international watrs since thursday,many of them on the dangerous journey from Libya.Ships belonging to Doctors without Borders,Migrant Offshore Aid Station,Italy's navy,the EU's border agency Frontex,and the bloc's anti-people-smuggling mission Sophia,all helped take the migrants off nine boats on friday.According to the the Interior Ministry in Italy,yhey said ''About 60,000 boat migrants have been brought to Italy so far this year''.One more photo below.

THE MINISTER OF FINANCE,IS ORGANISING A WORKSHOP FOR ALL STAKEHOLDERS IN THE NIGERIA MOVIE INDUSTRY,JULY 1ST.

                            According to Channels Television,the Nigerian government is organising a workshop for stakeholders aimed at restructuring and reinvigorating Project ACT Nollywood.It is a three billion Naira grant programme established by the Federal Government to solve the main challenges impeding the growth of the Nigerian Movie industry.The workshop,which is scheduled for Friday July 1,would be attended by representatives of the key stakeholders in the Nigerian Film industry-the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture,the leadership of Nollywood,the Actors Guild,Film and Videos Censors Board,the Nigerian Film Corporation and the Nigerian Copyright Commission.It is being organised by the Minister of Finance,Mrs Kemu Adeosun.Mrs Adeosun said the ideas discussed during the workshop would be part of the inputs for restructuring the project to ensure its sustainability.So far,the Project ACT Nollywood has implemented specialist training programmes in Nigeria and abroad in

ABOUT 10 PEOPLE DIED,33 INJURED IN A BUS CRASH YESTERDAY IN MEXICO.

                 According to Mexican authorities,yesterday friday,about 10 people were killed and 33 others injured when a bus collided with a tractor-trailer near Ciudad Juarez.The bus ran into the truck from behind shortly after 5 a.m,in which some minors died.Among those injured was the bus driver,identified only as a 58 year old male,is being interrogated by the police and still in their custody.The bus was en route from Torreon to Ciudad Juarez,a metropolis just across the Rio Grande from El Paso,Texas.Several of the injured are listed in critical condition at various hospitals in Ciudad Juarez.More photos below.                                                                                                                                 

THE UNITED KINGDOM VOTED IN A REFERENDUM ON THURSDAY,TO LEAVE THE EUROPEAN UNION.{READ}.

                It was reported that on thursday,the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union,but majority of voters in both scotland and Northern Ireland cast a vote for the United Kingdom to remain in the European Union {EU}.As a nation,Scotland voted to remain by 62 percent to 38 percent;Northern Ireland was approximately 56 percent in favour of remaining,with 44 percent voting for a British exit.In contrast,both Wales and England saw approximately 53 percent of voters in favour of leaving the EU.England's population is much larger than the other nations in the U.K,so the total vote came down on the side of leaving the European.The sharp disconnect has revive the idea of Scotland declaring its independence from the U.K and of Northern Ireland leaving to merge with the independent Republic of Ireland,which is an European Union member.More photos below.
