The President has also approved the appointment of Prince Ebitimi Amgbare as the Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority (NDRBDA). Dr. Barikor is an academic and politician. He was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015, while Prince Amgbare is a retired naval officer and former commissioner in Bayelsa State. The President expects that the new heads of these important agencies will discharge their duties with utmost fidelity to the nation and unfailing adherence to the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service to the people of Nigeria. Bello stressed that the high tide of the Lagoon has made it difficult for storm run-off from the various channels to discharge effectively into the lagoon which may cause a stagnation into the streets and major roads until the level of the lagoon subsides to allow for a discharge of the channels. HISBAH CONFISCATES 5,800 BOTTLES OF BEER IN KANO. (PHOTOS).

Operatives of Sharia police, Hisbah, Kano State Commission and the Sharia Board have impounded three vehicles laden with 5,800 bottles of beer. This was contained in the statement made on Monday by Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Harun Ibn-Sina, in Kano while inspecting the impounded vehicles at the Hisbah office. According to the board’s spokesman, Lawan Fagge, the three vehicles were impounded on Sunday. Noting that a Mercedes Benz car, had 1,800 bottles of beer in it; a Sienna minibus, conveying 3,000 bottles of beer and a Volkswagen Golf car conveying 1,000 bottles of beer. Ibn-Sina commended the anti-intoxicants unit that impounded the vehicles for its efforts at ensuring the stoppage of consumption of alcoholic beverages and harmful drugs in the state. The Commander-General gave assurance that the board would not relent in its efforts at sanitising Kano State of all forms of vices, especially drug peddling and abuse. Fraudster who Defrauded Grandmother N15m Jailed in Kano Justice Nasiru Saminu of the Kano State High Court today October 25, 2022 convicted and sentenced one Aminu Ishaq to three years imprisonment for retention of proceeds of crime. The convict is among six youths that were arrested in Katsina and Kano for stealing over N15,000,000 from the bank account of a complainant, incidentally a grandmother to one of fraudsters (Almustapha Nasir). Nasir had been convicted on the 6th of October, 2022 by the same court. The defendants were arrested following a petition which alleged that Almustapha Nasir stole the SIM card of his grandmother, shared it with his friends and together, they stole over N15,000,000 through bank transfers and POS withdrawals.

Soludo Suspends Teachers’ Recruitment over Irregularities Irked by the irregularities that has characterized the recruitment of teachers in the state, Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has suspended the exercise for the second time running, ANAMBRA PEOPLE reports. It was gathered on Monday that the directive for the cancellation was with immediate effect. The development has made applicants to panic, as they do not know their fate. About 40,000 applicants applied for the online job the first time, while 31,800 were shortlisted for interview. Soludo Awards More Roads in Anambra South In furtherance of making driving around Anambra State pleasurable, Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the award of roads construction in various parts of the state. The roads include the Ezira-Umuomaku -Enugwu Umuonyia-Achina road, 12.5km long and 8m wide, awarded to Tamad Construction Ltd at the cost of N4,682,184,235.18 (four billion, six hundred and eighty two million, one hundred and eighty four thousand, two hundred and thirty five naira, eighteen kobo). The road will be completed in 12 months. Construction of Ozubulu-Ihembosi-Ukpor road also got ANSEC’s nod to be awarded and commenced. Measuring 6.05km and 10m wide, the work has been awarded to Wakema Construction Company Ltd at the cost of N3,987,262,169.56 (three billion, nine hundred and eighty seven million, two hundred sixty two, one hundred and sixty nine naira, fifty six kobo).
