  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.        Following distress calls received from good Samaritans indicating the abduction of some farmers today 8 July 2019 while working on their farms at the outskirts of Kuyelo community, in Birnin Gwari Local Area of Kaduna State, a patrol team from 1 Division Nigerian Army stationed at Super Camp Kuyello, on Exercise HARBIN KUNAMA 111, swiftly pursed the bandits/kidnappers and rescued all the 13 kidnapped farmers after a serious exchange of fire with the criminals. During the encounter, one of the bandits was neutralised, while others obviously escaped with gun shot wounds. Soldiers are currently combing the general area which borders Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna States.         The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged employers of labour in both the public and private sector not to reject Corps members posted to serve in their organisations in the State. He made the call on Monday at the closing ceremony/parade for the 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 orientation course held at the NYSC temporary Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja. Sanwo-Olu, who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Folashade Jaji, appealed to various establishments in the State to provide adequate welfare for the corps members during their service year in accordance with the National Youth Service Corps Act.       Corps member dies after applying sniper to her hair to kill lice... A corps member deployed to Osogbo, Osun State for her service year, has been confirmed dead after applying sniper to her hair to kill lice. Ayomikun Juliana, a graduate of Tai Solarin University of Education discovered her hair was infested with lice following her visit to the salon, and reportedly sprayed her hair with the deadly insecticide which she covered with a cap and slept off after. The corps member who was found unconscious the next day, died after being rushed to the hospital. Ladies please, let's be careful...

      Two siblings, Chinaza Nwogu and Emeka Ejike are cooling off in police net after they were arrested alongside one Emmanuel Sunday for kidnapping their 88-year-old father, Louis Njoku. Emmanuel said to be Chinaza's boyfriend, had planned using his cut from the ransom that will be paid for the abduction of his would-be father-in-law to pay for his daughter’s bride price. Parading the suspects, the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba said the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Imo state command on June 29 following a tip-off. “A pathetic development is that of two siblings, who teamed up with the would-be husband of one of them to abduct their 88-year-old father.        The Lagos State Government has confiscated a truckload of “Toxic Ponmo” at Ijegun, a suburb of Lagos in the Alimosho Local Government area of the State, imported into the country by some unscrupulous individuals. Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Olayiwole Onasanya, who disclosed this in Lagos today noted the Police in Ikotun area of the State made the arrest of a vehicle fully loaded with cowhide, othe rwise known as “ponmo”, and subsequently informed officials of the State Government. He pointed out that the cowhide preserved with certain chemicals for the purpose of being used as leather material are being sold for human consumption by some criminals prior to their arrest by the Police and subsequent confiscation by the State Government.
