 Wigwe, wife, son, Abimbola Ogunbanjo in chopper crash  Herbert Wigwe, the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, was involved in a helicopter crash in the United States, on Friday, TheCable understands. Wigwe, his wife and son were in the helicopter when it crashed in California near the Nevada border, as well as Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the group chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group).  Fifth man dies over Nigeria-South Africa AFCON match A 43-year-old man, Mikail Osundiji, has passed away while watching the semi-final  AFCON match between Nigeria and South Africa. Osundiji is the latest Nigerian to have died while watching the AFCON semis. The Nation reported yesterday that a former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Cairo Ojougboh, and a National Youth Service Corps member also died while watching the AFCON semis. Osundiji reportedly passed away on Wednesday night in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while watching the game at a public football viewing place in the Olomoore neighborhood of the state capital. According to Channels TV, the father of two reportedly died when the central referee cancelled Nigeria’s second goal against South Africa, by Victor Osimhen. According to family, the deceased did not exhibit any symptom of illness before his passage.

 Tears as body of NYSC member who died during AFCON match leaves Yola for burial The body of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, member who died during Wednesday’s Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, match between Nigeria and South Africa, Peter Yunana, was moved out of Yola, Adamawa State capital, on Saturday amid emotions by his colleagues and students of the school where he was doing his primary assignment. Yunana had been one of a number of Nigerians who died on Wednesday as a result of the tension generated by the semifinal match between Nigeria and South Africa. He was deployed to teach at the Government Secondary School, Numan, where he was watching the AFCON match before he suddenly slumped and died. His body, due for burial on Sunday in Makarfi, Kaduna State, was moved out of Yola on Saturday ahead of his burial.  Indian man calls police after stabbing wife to death A 24-year-old Indian, Sahil Sharma, on Thursday, admitted in court that he stabbed his 19-year-old wife, Mehak Sharma in the neck and dialled 999 to call the police after killing her. According to the Daily Mail, Sharma pleaded guilty at the Kingston Crown Court to the murder of his wife at their home in Croydon, South London. He said after he killed his wife he calmly called the police. The incident took place after 4:15 pm on October 29 last year. Sharma phoned the police and told the operator that he had killed his wife at their home on Ash Tree Way. On getting to their home, the officers found his wife unresponsive. She had suffered catastrophic knife injuries to her neck, and despite the efforts of medics at the scene, she was sadly pronounced dead around 20 minutes later.  This St. Louis area Wendy's employee is probably not going to be nominated for Employee of the Month. Leon Johnson, a drive thru worker at the Wendy's restaurant on Page avenue in St. Louis, got hotter than a spicy chicken sandwich and lost his cool faster than a Frosty in July, on February 5th. According to reports, Johnson became enraged with a drive thru customer and when he was unable to use his words effectively he transitioned into attack mode.  Johnson allegedly exited the store and began punching the victim through his car window. The customer was able to retrieve a hammer from his car and began swinging wildly at Johnson, driving him back from the car. At this point the customer exited his vehicle to continue driving his attacker back which turned out to be a pretty bad idea. Williamson County Sheriff's Department, Marion, Illinois- Deputies Respond To Unclothed Man In Homeowner’s Hot-tub Throwing Rocks At Residence   Williamson County, Illinois - On February 8, 2024, at 2150 hours Williamson County Sherriff’s Office Deputies responded to the report of a “naked man in a homeowner’s hot tub throwing rocks at the residence” in the area of Illinois Route 37 and Prosperity Road.    Upon arrival, Deputies located an unclothed male in the homeowners hot tub, throwing hot tub accessories at the residence.     The man was detained and later transported to an area hospital for evaluation.     Due to the medical nature of the call the suspects name has not been released and no further law enforcement action is being taken.

 Pennsylvania couple charged after allegedly locking their 6-year-old daughter in a dog crate and shooting her with a bb gun. 37-year-old, Jacob Weight and 33-year-old Mimi Frost, are facing a litany of charges after authorities were called to their home for an unresponsive child. When officers arrived at the Brownsville,Pennsylvania residence they were met with a home filled with trash and covered in pet wastes. In addition to the unresponsive 6-year-old girl, there were 5 other children and 10 dogs. The unresponsive child was whisked away to a nearby children's hospital with a long list of medical and dental conditions; including open sores and extreme malnourishment. While she was being treated, the other children in the home were being questioned. The horrifying information they shared is heartbreaking.  Thai police arrest two Nigerians, Thai woman for romance scam Thai authorities apprehended two Nigerian men and a Thai woman in Phuket’s Thalang district, for their alleged involvement in a romance scam. According to foreign news outlet, Phuket Express, on Friday, the raid, conducted on the night of February 8, 2024, at a residence in the Phatcharee Thalang housing estate, led to the arrest of 32-year-old Thai woman, Kanyathanat Thotsatham, and the Nigerians, whose identities were not disclosed by authorities. In addition to the arrests, law enforcement seized 50 sachets of cocaine and a digital balance from the property. Ms. Kanyathanat was wanted under an arrest warrant issued by the Samut Prakan Provincial Court for offenses related to public fraud and inputting false information into a computer system.  EFCC Arrests Five Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Makurdi   Operatives of Makurdi Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC , have arrested five (5) suspected internet fraudsters.   They were arrested on Friday, February 9, 2024 at kansho village in the Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue state following actionable intelligence on their suspected involvement in internet - related offences.   The suspects are, Shima Francis, Ode Jesse, Odey Linus, Kingsley Obinna, Emmanuel Inaleguwu.   Items recovered from them  are one iPhone and five android phones.   They suspects would  be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
