  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.       Onitsha Fire: Governor Obiano Visits Anambra State Fire Service Command, Assures Of Revamp By Ejike Abana As part of efforts to ascertain why the Onitsha fire couldn't be quelled on time, Governor Willie Obiano visited the Anambra State fire service command headquarters in Awka. The Governor was recieved by the Director of Fire Service in the State, Mr Martin Agbili, Commssioner for Public Utilities and Mr Emeka Ezenwanne. Ater showing the Governor round the premises and some of their equipment, Mr Agbili briefed the Governor that they couldn't arrive the scene on time because of a little failure, explaining that the closest fire fighters who would have made it to the scene, would have been the Onitsha main market unit, but they were unfortunately fighting fire elsewhere. Mr Agbili stressed that even when the fire fighters got to the scene, people were initially chasing them, pointing out that his men managed to escape the scene.More photos below.

        The Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has obliterated a Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) meeting venue and neutralized several of their fighters at Ngoske on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. The attack was executed today, 18 October 2019, following successive days of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which were aimed   at identifying locations housing the BHTs’ leadership as well as their rendezvous positions. Intelligence derived from the ISR missions led to the designation of 2 buildings within Ngoske that served as assembly areas for the terrorists from where they launch attacks against own troops positions and innocent civilians. Accordingly, the ATF detailed its ground attack aircraft to engage the hideout, scoring devastatingly accurate hits which led to the complete destruction of the 2 buildings as well as the neutralization of several terrorists. LAGOS TO PROSECUTE FOUR POLICE OFFICERS INDICTED IN EXTRA-JUDICIAL KILLING.#PRESS RELEASE.

      The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN) has directed the immediate prosecution of four police officers for the alleged extra-judicial killing of late Segun Sholaja and Ogheneovo Ebobo. According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the Commissioner gave the directive sequel to the petition received from the families of late Segun Sholaja and Ogheneovo Ebobo as well as the review and thorough investigation and review alleged extrajudicial killing of the deceased persons by the four police officers, namely Inspector Fabiyi Omomayara, Sergent Olaniyi Solomon, Sergent Solomon Sunday and Constable Aliyu Mukaila of the Nigeria Police Force.        Owing to the growing rate at which tricycle and motorcycle operators mistake Riders Permit issued in their respective states for the National Drivers License (NDL), the Federal Road Safety Corps has clarified that they are two different documents and permit can never be used in the place of the NDL. According to the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, the NDL is a national security document that embodies drivers info rmation as contained in the national drivers database.       The EFCC, Kano Zonal office has arraigned one Abdullahi Tijjani before Justice O.A Egwuatu of the Federal High Court Kano on a one count charge of giving false information. Tijjani allegedly misled operatives of the EFCC by giving them false information wherein he alleged that a staff of Yankura Branch of Eco Bank Plc unlawfully withdrew the sum of Seven Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N7,200,000) only from his corporate bank account. The matter has been adjourned to November 19, 2019, for commencement of hearing.

     The EFCC, Enugu Zonal Office on Friday October 18, 2019 arrested nine suspected cyber crime fraudsters at Mexmemphis Properties and Apartments, Maryland District, Enugu. The suspects, Precious Ibegbulem, Michael Odishi,Ebuka Kenneth, Akabuke Beluolisa, Chibueze Ezeagwu, Nnamdi Maduekwe, Kingsley Orazulike, Linda Chidera and Uche Nwosu were arrested following an intelligence report about their lifestyle and suspected criminal activities.
