 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. Father In Tears As DNA Test Confirms Four Out Of Five Children Are Not His April 14, 2023      According to the narration of a woman who shared the heartbreaking account revealed that a marriage of over 17 years crashed over infidelity. During a hospital visit for one of their sick children, the husband got curious when a blood transfusion indicated that his blood did not match the sick child’s. Following a doctor’s recommendation for a paternity test, the man decided to have all five of his children tested. Shockingly, the results showed that only the youngest, a seven-month-old child, was his biological offspring. The man was reported to be devastated and felt betrayed by his wife, whom he had loved and trusted for many years. Watch video below.

BBC Radio Devon presenter David Fitzgerald suffered a ‘heart problem’ while presenting his morning program yesterday. He was on the air for 30 minutes before his colleague Michael Checker was forced to take his place. Michael informed listeners, “It’s Thursday morning, Michael Checker to David Fitzgerald feeling a little bit off. “He left the studio to get checked. UPDATE ON BANANA ISLAND BUILDING COLLAPSE One body has been recovered from the rubble of the collapsed building at 1st Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi. Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) workers’ search and recovery efforts unearthed the remains of the adult male hitherto unaccounted for by site supervisors.   The excavation of the site, using the architectural designs, continues. The site has been divided into quadrants for a painstaking search and rescue operation. Quadrants 2 and 3 have been levelled to ground zero, with the search operation completed. Quadrant 4 is ongoing. Twenty-five people were rescued from the site when the building went down on Wednesday. They are all doing fine. When a roll call was conducted by the site supervisors, everyone was accounted for. 2023 HAJJ FARE: LAGOS REACTS TO NAHCON'S STATEMENT The Lagos State Government has reacted to the statement issued by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) cautioning State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards (SMPWB) from charging above the announced Hajj fare to be paid for the 2023 exercise. In his reaction, the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Olanrewaju Elegushi, affirmed that the sum of N2,999,000.00 was announced by NAHCON as the fare for intending Pilgrims wishing to perform the holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia through the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. He explained further that during a meeting with the intending Pilgrims, NAHCON's publication in respect of the Hajj fare was brought to their attention and boldly shown to them for confirmation. He added that intending pilgrims at the meeting agreed on a one-line package payment of the total sum of N,2,999,000.00 on or before 21st April 2023, being the deadline for fare remittance given by NAHC

 NIGERIA POLICE DETAINS PERSONNEL WHO USED KNIFE ON MOTORIST FOR REFUSING TO GIVE 100 NAIRA BRIBE. The police officers who were caught on camera brutalising and attempting to stab some young men over alleged refusal to give a bribe of N100 while on stop-and-search duty in Warri, Delta State have been identified and summoned to the Police headquarters in Abuja. It was reported on Thursday that the police officers had stopped the victims to check their vehicle particulars, and then demanded N100 from the young men but they refused to part with the money, which angered the officers. From the video of the incident which went viral on the internet, the police officers subsequently wrestled one of the young men to the ground and unleashed violence on them. Watch video below.

 Student slumps, dies after collecting matriculation gown in Ilorin April 14, 2023      A yet to be named 100-level student of Kwara College of Education, Ilorin, has slumped after collecting her matriculation gown on Wednesday preparatory to her matriculation which was held yesterday (Thursday) The student died on Wednesday while receiving lectures ahead of her first semester examination when she breathed her last, the college’s spokesperson, Mrs Abibat Zubair said while confirming the incident. According to Zubair, though the student was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Ilorin, was pronounced dead on arrival. Zubair said the lady was mourned during the matriculation on Thursday. She added that the school’s management already paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased. The student has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

PORT HARCOURT: Fire destroys goods and properties worth millions of naira at Ojoto market, Azikiwe street Fire has destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira at Ojoto Market, Azikiwe Street in the Mile 2 axis of Diobu, Port Harcourt. According to eyewitnesses who spoke to correspondent said the fire started from an electric spark in a shop after power was restored at the market at about 9:15 yesterday night. The witnesses also emphasised that the presence of diesel and other petroleum products that were stored in the market for sale ignited the fire. Our correspondent reports that the angry youths chased away the operatives of fire service who arrived around 10:42pm, almost 90 minutes after the fire  started.
