 Junior Pope: Family of late Nollywood actor releases burial date Funeral arrangements for the burial of the late Nollywood actor John Paul Odonwodo have been released by his family. Junior Pope and four other actors drowned after their boat capsized in the Anam River in Anambra State on April 10 while returning from a movie shoot. Of the 12 individuals who boarded the ill-fated boat, only seven were rescued alive, while five died, including Junior Pope. The details of funeral arrangements for the late actor, signed by Divine Odonwodo on behalf of the family, indicated that besides the April 23 requiem mass at Saint John-Mary Vianney Parish in Asaba, Delta State, another requiem mass is scheduled to be held at Christ the King Catholic Parish, G.R.A., Enugu, on May 13. On May 14, an evening of tributes and candlelight will follow at Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu at 5 pm. MAGU WRITES THE SUN NEWSPAPER,SEEKS N5BN COMPENSATION FOR LIBEL.

               The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,Ibrahim Magu,is seeking a N5 billion compensation from the publishers of The SUN newspaper,for ''libelous imputations and statements'' made against him in a story published on the March 25,2017 edition of the Sturday Sun,captioned ''Magu Under Fresh Probe over 2 Abuja Mansions''.  In a letter dated March 30,2017,sent to the publishers by Magu's solicitor,Wahab Shittu,he noted that the authors of the story-Fred Itua,James Ojo and Lawrene Enyoghasu,''willfully and maliciously made false,destructive,and defamatory statements'' against him.Quoting unnamed sources,the writers of the ''offensive'' report,had maliciously alleged that Magu owned'' two mansions on different streets in highbrow Maitama area of Abuja'',a case which they could not substantiate,and which in fact was false,and nothing but the figments of their im

LAGOS RELEASES OVER N582M PAYMENT OF PENSION RIGHTS.{READ}.

                  The Lagos State Governor,Mr Akinwunmi Ambode has once again approved the release of N582,195 million as payment of entitlements to over 109 retirees for the month of March,2017.The State Government,through LASSPEC has,since the beginning of this administration paid 5,956 retirees from the mainstream Civil Service,Local Government and State Universal Basic Education Board,Teachers Establishment Pensions Office as well as other parastatals and agencies.The Director-General,LASPEC,Mrs Folashade onanuga,who disclosed this during the 37th Retirement Benefit Bond Certificate Presentation Ceremony,held on wednesday,said that by April 2017,the Contributory Pensions Scheme {CPS} would clock 10 years of its commencement in Lagos State.While stating that activities have been lined up to commemorate the decade of the CPS in the State,Onanuga congratulated the retirees and urged them to spend their money judiciously .The Assistant Director,Technical,Mr Olawale Otun took the retire

                                                                 The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC,today thursday arraigned a serving member of the House of Representatives,Nse Bassey Ekpenyong before Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo,Akwa Ibom State on a 9-count charge of forgery and alteration of documents.Ekpenyong,representing Oron Federal Constituebcy in Akwa-Ibom State,was alleged to have forged an Abia State Polytechnic's Ordinary National Diploma Certificate and uttered a December 1999's West African Examination School Certificate,WASSCE and thereby committed perjury before an Electoral Tribunal where he claimed that the certificates were genuine.The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.In view of his plea,prosecution counsels Ahmed I.                      The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has been drawn to a mischievous publication in some prints and online platforms that the service has seized vehicles belonging to a Senator in Kano.Since this is capable of misleading the public into wrong insinuations,it is imperative to state the facts.That the Operatives of NCS Compliance Team,based on credible intelligence,trailed the movement of some smuggled vehicles from Maigatari,Jigawa State to a house at Magaji Rumfa,GRA Kano.            On the 7th February,2017,eleven {11} vehicles,10 Hilux and one {1} Land cruiser jeep were retrieved from the house at Magaji Rumfa GRA,Kano and taken for detention at the HQ of Customs Area Command Kano.That the officers discovered three were no occupants in the house,hence the gate was forced opened to retrieve the smuggled vehicles.That investigation into the smuggling of the vehicles is still on to establish the true owner.From the above,it is clear that whoever introduced
