 Govt extends search for fleeing 4,000 inmates to IDP camps …to comb villages, towns, environs of fugitive prisoners  The Nigeria Correctional Service has stepped up efforts to track down and recapture escaped inmates of the Suleja Medium Security Custodial Centre, Niger State, Saturday PUNCH has learnt. The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, said the government would relocate a lot of correctional centres to create better infrastructure and security. Tunji-Ojo made the pledge when he visited the Niger custodial centre, where 119 inmates had escaped following a rainstorm that damaged the facility on Wednesday. This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the ministry, Ozoya Imohimi. The minister said it was imperative to relocate a lot of the correctional centres to a conducive environment. “This facility was built in 1914 to house 250 inmates.   Former deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Bello Tukur Friday commissioned Toungo electrification project provided by the Fintiri led administration. Speaking at the event in Toungo, Senator Tukur thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for actualizing the project which he said has great socioeconomic benefits to the people. He described Governor Umaru Fintiri as one of the best performing governors in the country acknowledged with excitement his developmental projects in Adamawa. Governor Umaru Fintiri said project is a 33kv main line from Ganye Tee Junction to Toungo and linked to the YEDC main station with 11kv Low Tension in Gamu and installed transformers and distribution lines. The Governor added that the second phase is the one from Toungo to Kirri which has already seen ninety percent poles erection and is still in progress declaring that his administration will soon commission the project.   Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has been conferred fellow of the Nigerian Institution Of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) in the 2021 prestigious fellowship awards. Zulum, a Professor of Irrigation Engineering, has since 2018 been a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He holds a Barchelor’s and masters degrees in Agricultural Engineering with Phd in soil and water engineering. The NIAE held its inauguration of national executive committee and fellowship conferment at Nigerian Society of Engineers Headquarters in Central Area, on Friday in Abuja, with Zulum in attendance. Four others: Engr. Dr. GA Badamus, Engr. Dr. Taiwo I. Oyedemi, Engr. Professor Babagana Mohammed and Engr. Dr Jones Akinbolade also received the agricultural engineers fellowship award. COAS CHARGES ARMY PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS ON EFFECTIVE INFORMATION MANAGEMENT .{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru has charged officers and men of the Directorate of Army Public Relations(DAPR) on the need to enhance their capacity on effective information management. He gave the charge on Wednesday 19 May 2021 while declaring open a 3- Day Capacity Building Workshop organized for Public Relations Officers by the Directorate of Army Public Relations in Abuja. The COAS who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Ben Ahanotu, stated that the workshop is necessary in view of the myriads of security challenges the country is facing. This he said requires proactive and effective media handling, stressing that dominating the media space is a step towards defeating adversaries.
