 Granite City, Illinois teen loses both legs after being struck by a train. 13-year-old Serenity McMillan was crossing the tracks near the 2900 block of Missouri Avenue on April 5th when tragedy struck. In an instant, this happy and bubbly Coolidge Junior High cheerleader's life was inexorably changed. Serenity attempted to cross the tracks but was either unaware of the impending danger or miscalculated the train's speed. Sadly this young lady was struck by the train. Bobrisky will be held, kept in male Prison section— Correctional Service official Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky will be kept in the male section of the prison facility throughout his six-month imprisonment, officials of the Nigerian Correctional Service have said. Bobrisky told Awogboro that he was a man when asked to clarify his gender status before the court. “Since he admitted to being a male in court, then we have to abide by what was submitted in court,” the correctional spokesperson said on Friday.  Seven die in Italy plant blast Rescuers on Friday found the body of the last worker missing after a blast at a hydroelectric plant in Italy, bringing the final death toll to seven. Fire spokesman Luca Cari confirmed to AFP that all the workers missing after Tuesday’s explosion had now been found. Three bodies had been recovered on Thursday. The cause of the blast at Enel Green Power’s Bargi plant on Lake Suviana near Bologna remains unclear.  Man killed during morning prayer in Anambra Some gunmen on Thursday killed a former President-General, Amansea Development Union in Anambra State, Cajetan Nwokike, Daily Post reports Friday. The assailants reportedly entered Nwokike’s residence while he was performing a “traditional morning prayer of breaking of kola nut” and “shot him point blank on the head,” resulting in his instant death. Heavy rains pounding different parts of Kenya have led to the deaths of at least 13 people and displaced some 15,000 people, the United Nations said, as forecasters warn that more rains can be expected until June. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, citing the Kenya Red Cross Society, said Thursday that nearly 20,000 people were affected, including an estimated 15,000 people displaced by heavy rains and flash floods across the country since the start of the wet season in mid-March. The East African country has seen thousands of people killed by flooding in previous rainy seasons, mostly in the lake regions and downstream of major rivers.

 Ex-CBN Gov Emefiele gets N50m bail Justice Rahman Oshodi of an Ikeja Special Offences Court on Friday granted embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele N50m bail.  Emefiele is facing a 26-count charge bordering on alleged abuse of office and fraud  to the tune of $4.5 billion and N2.8 billion. Justice Oshodi, in his ruling, admitted Emefiele to N50 million bail with two sureties in like sum. Oshodi ordered the sureties must be gainfully employed and must have made three years tax payment with the Lagos State Government. He also said that the sureties must show proper identification and that they must be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.  Boko Haram terrorists slaughter 27 fishermen in Cameroon No fewer than 27 fishermen were slaughtered  while three others  were abducted by the Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, (Boko Haram terrorist group) in the fringes of Lake Chad in the border between Cameroon and Nigeria. It was gathered that terrorists suspected to be from the Buduma faction of Abou Ummaymah, attacked a local fishing community harbouring most fishermen from Nigeria at Island Kofiya near Darak in the Republic of Cameroon. Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that they asked them to lie down, tie their hands behind their backs before they started slaughtering them. The sources said the terrorists also abducted four other fishermen after accusing them of spying for the ISWAP faction The bodies of the fishermen were later recovered during a search and rescue operation by troops and their colleagues who received the news from victims who fled the attack scene.

 Scores killed as ISWAP, Boko Haram fighters clash in Lake Chad Scores of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters have been killed in another clash with the Bakoura Buduma also known as Abou Umaymah’s Boko Haram elements. The clash occurred on the islands of Kukiri and Lelewa on the Lake Chad shores in Niger Republic. Impeccable sources told Zagazola Makama,  a counter insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region that that the clash began late afternoon on Thursday. It was gathered that Abu Umaima Ari Kau led fighters of the Buduma who dispatched from Lelewa and Gadira in Bosso, Diffa region in the Republic of Niger and launched a fresh assault in the camp, killing several ISWAP fighters.  Manu Garba appointed Golden Eaglets coach The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, on Friday announced the appointment of Manu Garba as head coach of the country’s U-17 side, Golden Eaglets. Garba is making a return to the position having guided the Golden Eaglets to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2013. Tochukwu claimed Luke ordered his arrest following claims by the boat operator that he caused the mishap that led to Pope’s death. The Nation reported that Pope and three crew members died  in a boat accident in Anambra while returning from a filming location.
