 Court Jails two Internet Fraudsters in Maiduguri The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 secured the conviction and sentence of two internet fraudsters. They are Omachile Gabriel (alias Priest Tamara Shane)and Micah Njawindumai (alias Edgar David, Oldmangt, Professional Hacker).  23-year-old secondary school leaver arrested with two guns   A 23 year-old secondary school leaver, Rukevwe George, has been arrested by operatives of Edo State Police Command for allegedly being in possession of firearms. He was arrested at a location in Benin, the state capital.   Popular Nollywood producer, Andy Best is dead Nollywood producer, Ikechukwu Nnadi, popularly known as Andy Best, is reportedly dead. Nnadi, who was said to be battling with a prolonged ailment, was confirmed dead at a private clinic in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Tuesday. Confirming the death of the movie producer, the convener of the Best of Nollywood awards, Mr Seun Oloketuyi, wrote in an Instagram post that Nnadi is late. “Andy Best, a top Nollywood producer and marketer, is dead. “He died in an Owerri hospital today,” he wrote. Until his death, he was the Chief Executive Officer of Andy Best Production and was behind the production of famous movies, including Lion of Africa, White Poison, My Father’s Cup, and many more.  Enugu Police Warn Against Self-Help The Enugu State Police Command has warned against the illegal practice of "Itu Mmadu n'Arụsị," commonly known as trial by ordeal. The command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, stated this on his X handle on Tuesday. Trial by ordeal is said to involve subjecting someone to a dangerous or painful experience to determine guilt or innocence. He went missing from Versailles Lake in Ripley County, Indiana Friday and was unfortunately found deceased Sunday afternoon.  Carson was an accomplished nature photographer despite his young age. Carson had a large following on social media as a result of his amazing photography.  He attended Jac-Çen-Del high school where he was on the basketball team.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Carson Hughes and the community as a whole.  Strike: NLC Backs NASU, SSANU, Demands Immediate Payment Of Salaries The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has said it is in support of the ongoing strike by the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational (NASU) and associated institutions of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and has demanded an “immediate” payment of the withheld salaries of the aggrieved workers. A statement signed by the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, on Monday, said there had been no credible reason or explanation for withholding those salaries in the first place. “We join our affiliate unions, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational (NASU) and Associated Institutions and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) in demanding the immediate payment of the withheld salaries of their members,” the statement read in part.  Call Off Warning Strike, FG Appeals To SSANU/NASU The Federal Government is appealing to the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) to call off their seven-day warning strike.  Both unions began the industrial action on Monday as they pressed for the payment of their salaries. But the Minister of State, Labour, and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, is calling on them to shelve the strike. The ministry’s spokesperson Olajide Oshundun quoted her in a statement as expressing displeasure over the action of the unions, which she described as a total disregard for the Federal Government’s concerted effort to address their concern.  NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS RESCUE 16 KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KAJURU, KADUNA STATE  Nigerian Army troops deployed in 1 Division area of responsibility in  Kaduna State have successfully averted a kidnap attempt by a violent  extremist and insurgent group and rescued the abductees in Tantatu Community of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.  Responding to actionable intelligence the troops on 17 March 2024 at about 10:30pm swiftly tracked the insurgents who had earlier attacked the community in numbers and abducted some of the villagers as hostages.  N4.1billion Property Fraud:  EFCC Recovers, Hands over 324 Houses to Kano Pensioners   The Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission , EFCC, has handed over documents of properties and 324 houses recovered for Kano state pensioners to them. The handing over of the houses, occasioned by a final forfeiture order granted by Justice I.E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting Abuja, was a result of successful investigations carried out by the Commission over a N4.1billion Pension Trust Fund contributed by the pensioners to own houses, which was fraudulently denied them by two successive administrations in Kano State. The Commission investigated a petition by Concerned Kano State Workers and Pensioners of alleged misappropriation of pension funds in the state.  Houston family attacks Uber driver after he hits and kills 1-year-old while dropping family off. Harris County Sheriff's officials say that the Uber driver had just dropped the family off at an apartment complex in Houston. According to the surveillance video, the driver thought his path was clear and began to accelerate forward. Unfortunately the 1-year-old girl was walking alone in front of the car and due to her small size... he could not see her in front of his vehicle. Sadly he struck her with the car and dragged her a short distance unfortunately killing the child. At this point in the video, you can see the family of the child begin to drag the driver from the car and physically assault him. The child was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries. The arrest comes after Zachary Carrel was assaulted by Mr. Livingston while he was operating as a substitute school bus driver. Zachary's mother said she was shocked when she received a call from her son detailing the assault.  According to Zachary's mother Nicole he said, "Mom I just got assaulted by the bus driver. I was choked and punched multiple times."  Fortunately Zachary's friend whom he had been joking around with (which led to the assault) filmed the last part of the assault. Zachary also had visible marks which were documented.  California mom crashes car into home in desperate attempt to rescue her children from raging house fire. Fresno County FD responded to a home in Kingsburg to the call of a house fire. When they arrived on scene  the home was fully engulfed and the homeowner was ramming her vehicle into the side of the house. She was doing this in an attempt to create a hole to rescue her 2 small children.  She was trying to save her 8-year-old boy and her 6-year-old girl both of whom family have confirmed were special needs. According to reports, the fire began abruptly, separating the mother from her children. Mom suffered non life threatening burns to her hands and face attempting to reach the children. She then ran outside and began ramming her car into the home before the fire department arrived.
