 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud.   The Twelfth prosecution witness in the ongoing corruption trial of a former minister of special duties and inter-governmental affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Hamma'Adama Bello, an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, told the Court on Tuesday February 9, that a sum of N150 million from the funds allocated for public sensitization by the ministry, was traced to Abdulrahman Yusuf and KT Turaki & Co., the law firm of the former minister. Led in evidence by prosecuting counsel, M.S Abubakar, Bello told the court that the second defendant received payment through Samtee Essentials and Pasco Investment, adding that " the second defendant showed that he received money from Minister of Labour while the first defendant was supervising minister in the sum of N150 million and transferred to Abdulrahman Yusuf and KT Turaki & Co.” The witness told the court that the sum of N359, 104,000 was approved for sensitization and enlightenment of Muslim youths agains

SIX SUSPECTED INTERNET FRAUDSTERS WERE ARRESTED IN JOS BY THE EFCC.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

  A special team of the Tactical Operations Unit of the Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested six suspected internet fraudsters from their hideouts in Jos, Plateau State. The suspects, aged 23 to 33 years, who are believed to be involved romance and other related internet fraud, were arrested in the early hours of Monday, February 8, 2021, following actionable intelligence received by the Commission. They include, Paul Chukwuemeka Obide ( a.k.a, Don P), Chinaza Obide and Obadare Obayemi. Others are Emmanuel Adetunji, Ndubuisi Kerian Ozomba and Samuel Chukwuebuka. Items recovered from them include Lexus RX350 with registration number, RSH-58IML; Honda Accord with registered number, JJN-35AA; six laptop computers; MiFis; Modems; Flash drives; Card readers and exotic mobile phones. The suspects have made useful statements and will soon be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

  The Ibadan zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, arrested 39 internet fraud suspects, also known as 'Yahoo-Yahoo Boys’. Ten of them were arrested at Ilesha, Osun State, while Twenty-nine others were arrested in different locations at Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. Those arrested at Ilesha are: Oyesoji Tosin, Olaniyi Emmanuel, Samson Ojo, Sodiq Sunkanmi, Kolawole Abiodun, Oluwole Gbenga, Olajuyigbe Olamide, Oyebanji Olabisi Temitope, Ayoola Oluwafemi, and Oluwatobiloba Gbadamosi . The suspects arrested at Ago-Iwoye include Emmanuel Lawal, Kareem Olamide, Adekunle Kehinde Salawu, Bella Tijesu, Aderibigbe Adedoyin, Anifowose Hammed, Lateef Adetayo, Busari Oluwatobi, Tobi Adeyemi, Gabriel Obisesan, Oluwole Olasunkanmi and Odetola Samson.   The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba has disclosed that the Judiciary is embracing a more digitised and ICT compliant process in all its legal engagements. Justice Alogba, who made the disclosure when he received the Executives of Epe branch of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), on a courtesy visit to his office at the Ikeja High Court, stated that the #EndSARS protest and the pandemic brought about major setbacks for Justice dispensation in the State, adding that the incident had also paved a way for the Judiciary to pursue more ICT programmes. He said, “The #EndSARS incident has brought us to a more appreciative position on what we should do about our Directorates and that is why we are vigorously pursuing an ICT programme in the judiciary. We are, however, grateful to the State Government for all its assistance so far in ensuring that we function well at work as best as we can for now”.
