 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

  Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday, distributed N500m to offset backlog of gratuity and pensions of retirees in the state and local government services. Abiodun, while carrying out a symbolic presentation of cheques to some retirees at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said the event was a demonstration of his administration's commitment to fulfil its promises to all the workers of the state, particularly the elder statesmen and women. Troops neutralize two bandits in Chikun local government area -Several bandits escape with life threatening injuries -Many bandit camps destroyed Troops under the auspices of Operation Thunder Strike (OPTS) and One Division Nigerian Army have neutralized two bandits in the Buruku general area of Chikun LGA. Several bandits also escaped with life threatening injuries during the ongoing operations against armed bandits covering five local government areas of Kaduna Central Senatorial District. The military disclosed this development in an operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government According to the report, the troops conducted search-and-rescue operations around the Buruku forest, precisely in Rima village, Chikun LGA. FAKE ARMY OFFICER BAGS 8 YARS IMPRISONMENT FOR FRAUD IN UYO.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

  Justice Agatha Okeke of the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 sentenced one Henry Mfon Asuquo, a military impostor, to eight years imprisonment on a two-count charge of impersonation and cybercrime brought against him by the Uyo Zonal Office of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Asuquo’s journey to jail started on January 3, 2019, when operatives of the Commission arrested him at Ayara Street, Nungu Uko in Ibesikpo Local Government Area of the State following a petition by one Itoro Tom. Tom alleged in her petition that Asuquo swapped her Subscriber Identification Module, SIM card, and fraudulently withdrew N700,000 (Seven Hundred Thousand Naira) from her account domiciled at a new generation bank. Investigation into the matter revealed that the convict paraded himself as a military officer and in that capacity, he was going about intimidating and defrauding unsuspecting victims of their hard-earned money.
