     President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State, said he will use his second term in office to improve the lives of Nigerians by paying close attention to the poor and those on the lower rungs of society.        Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, transmitted the final list of his cabinet nominees to the State House of Assembly. This is coming four weeks after the Governor sent the first batch of the list to the lawmakers for screening. Thirteen Commissioner- and Special Adviser-designates made the second list, which had already been transmitted to the legislature. A statement by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, said the second list had names of accomplished politicians and technocrats who “understand the current need of Lagos” and the development agenda of the Governor.       The Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) has concluded the palliative road work on Ikorodu Road, Mile 12 inward Ketu ahead of schedule and opened the route for motorists coming from Ikorodu to Ketu and other roads on the axis. Speaking on the repair work, the General Manager LSPWC, Engr. Olufemi Daramola stated that the corporation decided to double the number of required personnel and equipment for the repairs  to ensure early completion of the bad sections of the road earlier scheduled to end by 5.30am on Wednesday 14th August, but was concluded around 12.30pm on Tuesday afternoon. While expressing his appreciation to motorists for their understanding during the rehabilitation, Daramola noted that apart from the repairs on the main carriage way, the service lane from Mile 12 inward Ketu was also graded for smooth vehicular movement; sections of the service lane from Ikosi Junction to Ketu were also repaired and sealed with asphalt.       President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Daura, Katsina State, disclosed that he has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to stop providing foreign exchange for importation of food into the country, with the steady improvement in agricultural production, and attainment of full food security. The President, who hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) governors to Eid-el-Kabir lunch at his country home in Daura, said the foreign reserve will be conserved and utilized strictly for diversification of the economy, and not for encouraging more dependence on foreign food import bills. “Don’t give a cent to anybody to import food into the country,’’ he said.     The job portal promised by the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, will be formally launched on Thursday. The public presentation will take place at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta at 12 noon prompt. The portal would register, on a continuous basis, employed and unemployed youths in the State with a view to providing them jobs and training opportunities suitable for their trade and academic qualifications. The job portal which was under review recorded over 5,000 candidates where a test-run was done last month for only two hours.       The Prince of Wales will visit Japan on behalf of Her Majesty The Queen to attend the Ceremony of Enthronement of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito.       The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, His Excellency Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commended the troops of the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE for their immense sacrifices in the fight against insurgency as well as securing the territorial integrity of the country. The Governor made this known yesterday, 12 August 2019, while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the luncheon organized by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir with the frontline troops in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.        A 46-year-old male banker has committed suicide hours after taking to Facebook to share a suicidal note. Ibeakanma Onyechere, a married father-of-one, was found lying lifeless in his room at his home in Victoria Island, Lagos State. The banker, from Umuakam Afugiri in Umuahia north LGA, Abia state, reportedly left his wife a suicide note before he took his life by consuming a harmful substance on Friday, August 9, 2019.
