        Justice J. K. Daggard of the Federal High Court sitting in Kano on February 7, 2018 granted Nuraini Adamu, son of former Governor of Nasarawa State and one Felix Onyeabo bail in the sum of N8 million each and two sureties in like sum.   Nuraini is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes, Commission, EFCC, alongside Onyeabo for allegedly obtaining contract with forged documents. The defendants w ere arraigned on January 17, 2018 on a 5-count charge of money laundering. Upon arraignment, the defendants pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned till today for ruling on their bail application.In his ruling, Justice Daggard granted the defendants bail in the sum of N8,000,000 (Eight Million Naira Only) each and two sureties in like sum. The sureties, the Judge said, must have landed properties within the jurisdiction of the court and must deposit their international passports and affidavit of means with the court.         Following the recent discovery of an illegal orphanage home in Igando area of the State on Tuesday, the Lagos State Government has issued a 14-day ultimatum to operators of unregistered Orphanages and Homes in the State for registration or risk forfeiture of their facilities. The State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Agboola Dabiri, who made the disclosure, stated that the Enforcement Unit of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, acting on an information received from the Lagos Police Command, Gender Unit, Ikeja visited the illegal orphanage at 3, Alhaji Jimoh Sodiq Street, Igando and took custody of three pregnant teenagers and two children at the location before it was sealed. The attention of Ogun State Police Command has been once again drawn to an alleged attack by herdsmen along Lagos/Ibadan expressway as well as an anonymous security alert letter written by a faceless student group urging students and members of public not to travel along that route. The faceless group also posted a simulated voice recording on social media where some people are crying and pleading with t heir alleged attackers not to kill them.          The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested one Barr. Mike Nkwocha and a self-professed Colonel of the United State Army, Richardson Obasogie for impersonating EFCC operatives to obtain $10,000 by false pretense. The victim had petitioned the EFCC alleging that one Ladan Mustapha who claimed to be an operative of EFCC, gave him a call informing him that there was a petition against him which bordered on illegal acquisit ion of assets in different parts of the country and that he was currently a subject of investigation. Partnering with Nkwocha, a meeting was arranged, in which $200,000 was demanded in order to help “kill” the case, but $15,000 was later agreed upon as payment.               There has been commotion at Visitation Hospital Mortuary in Umuchu Town, Aguata Local Government Area in Anambra State following the rejection of the corpse of one Pa Reuben Okorie who was said to be attacking other corpses and causing havoc at the mortuary. The mortuary attendants who were said to be tired and afraid of controlling the corpse, summoned the family to take back the money they had deposited and tak e the corpse away from the mortuary. P.M.EXPRESS gathered that Pa Okorie died recently and his corpse was deposited at the mortuary. However, it was said to have disturbed and attacked other corpses deposited there to the amazement of the attendants.        The Anambra State Government has made good its threat to arrest child hawkers who ply their trade during school hours. Government had earlier handed out a strict warning, saying that it would not tolerate children who hawk wares during school hours, especially with its free education scheme which is designed to accommodate indigent children. Commissioner for Social Welfare, Children and Women’s Affairs, Dr. Victoria Chikwelu who led the raid jointly carried out by the government and a non- governmental organization, said not less that 25 children were arrested. Commissioner Chikwelu warned that Education was a development right of a child and not a privilege, while explaining that the raid showed that government was very serious about implementing the law to the letter to create a child- friendly environment.
