  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. The single mother of four, while speaking in an interview with TVC, said that life happened and that for her, her marriage had been a ‘make or mar situation‘. “Well for me, life happened. A lot of times people go into marriage with a little bit of understanding of what they really are going into. And they don’t have a clear picture. Wike Says Tinubu Has Approved Land Allocation To Judges, Others November 2, 2023 The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said he has received a directive from President Bola Tinubu to allocate lands to judges and officials in other arms of the Federal Government. Wike made this known during a meeting with Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, on Thursday, where he pledged to put infrastructure in place before land allocation in the FCT. “Before now, the President had given me the go ahead to allocate lands to the Legislature, the Executive, and the Judiciary. Tony Nwoye Wins At Appeal Court November 2, 2023 The Court of Appeal in Lagos has dismissed the appeal filed by Stella Oduah, challenging the victory of Labour Party’s Tony Nwoye in the February 25, 2023 Anambra North Senatorial District election. The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Awka, Anambra State, in its judgment given on September 6 dismissed Oduah and the Peoples Democratic Party’s petitions challenging the victory of Nwoye and the Labour Party. The tribunal dismissed the petitions for a lack of merit. Not satisfied with the ruling of the tribunal, Oduah and the PDP filed appeals marked CA/AW/EP/SEN/AN/03/2023 and CA/AW/EP/SEN/AN/04/2023 as the Court of Appeal. According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, Nwoye secured 94,779 votes while Oduah had 50,146 votes. Oduah, a former aviation minister, represented Anambra North for eight years.  Former NFF President, Amaju Pinnick and his company, Brownhill Investment Company Limited, have petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, accusing Davido and his Logistics Manager, Isreal Afeare, of stealing and defamation respectively. In a petition filed by their counsel, Osaruyi Ayela-Uwangue, Pinnick and his company urged the police to investigate alleged criminal action of Davido with a view to prosecuting him. 'Nobody can rubbish me', Wike Reveals Grouse With Fubara Former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has revealed his grouse with his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, saying the incumbent governor hobnobbed with some of his political enemies after getting into office.
