 ANAMBRA STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL INSPECTS NEW HIGH COURT COMPLEX: EXPRESSES SATISFACTION  By Chinelo Okeke  The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Anambra State, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, on  Monday, June 1st, 2026, conducted an inspection visit to the state's new High Court building,Complex currently under construction behind the Judiciary Headquarters off Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka. Nweke led the team of Commissioners that accompanied him to the inspection which are Arch. Henry Arinze, Commissioner for Housing, with Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, Commissioner for Physical and Urban Development. Attorney General toured the facility and expressed strong satisfaction with the progress and quality of work on the project. Speaking during the inspection, Nweke described the structure as solid and befitting of a modern judicial institution. TO COMBAT MIGRATION,EUROPEAN UNION LAUNCHES $2 BILLION EMERGENCY FUND FOR AFRICA.

                                  Today thursday,the European Union launched a fund for Africa with an initial $2 billion to combat the poverty and conflict driving migration to Europe,but African leaders said more fundamental economic change was need.The trust fund was unveiled at a summit with African leaders in Malta,consists largely of 1.8 billion euros {$1.93 billion } put up by the European Commission,the EU executive,from the bloc's central budget.The Commission wants member states to match that,but few have pledged much so far.The new money,which adds to somee 20 billion euros annually donated to Africa by the EU and its 28 states,will finance projects ranging from training and small business grants and combating  food shortages to schemes directly aimed at cutting emigration and tackling radicalization and other violence.

COMMONWEALTH APPOINTS EX-PRESIDENT GOODLUCK,TO RESOLVE THE CRISIS IN ZANZIBAR ISLAND.

                           The Commonwealth has appointed former President Goodluck Jonathan to lead the charge for the resolution of the political stalemate in the semi-independent Island of Zanzibar.Jonathan's new appointment as Commonwealth Special representative is seen as an affirmation of the former President's towering status as the moral face of democracy and transparent polling in Africa,The new appointment was conveyed to Jonathan last week in a letter sent to him by the Commonwealth Secretary General,Mr Kamalesh Sharma.Goodluck Jonathan's appointment followed his highly acclaimed leadership of the Commonwealth Observer Group {COG} to last months's Tanzania general election.After the October 25 general election which produced John Magufuli as the new President of Tanzania,the Jonathan led COG and other international observers had endorsed the polling processes as credible.Now John has been drafted to quell t...

UNKNOWN GUNMEN,OPENED FIRE ON A CHURCH TODAY IN EGYPT.

                                    Today thursday, one person was confirmed dead,after  3 gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on a church near Cairo,setting off a gun-battle with police,The three attackers escaped after the fire fight.According to an Egyptian local TV station reported that the police guarding the evangelical church near the Giza pyramids were left with scrapes and bruises.Egypt's Coptic Christians have long complained of being treated like second class citizens.They now make up about 10 percent of a population of around 90 million,making them the largest Christian community in the middle east.One more photo below .                 

UK GOVERNMENT,DEBUNK RUMOURS OF CHARLES TAYLOR'S DEATH.

               Today thursday,it was confirmed by the UK's Ministry of Justice that 67 year old Charles Taylor ex-president of Liberia who is serving a 50 year prison sentence in the UK following his conviction by a UN backed court for backing rebels in Sierra Leone during the 1991-2002 civil war,is still alive,contrary to the rumours circulating on social media.

SARAKI'S TRIAL,SUSPENDED BY THE SUPREME COURT TODAY.

            Today thursday,the Supreme Court directed the Code of Conduct Tribunal {CCT} to suspend proceedings in the trial of Senate President,Bukola Saraki.The directive by a five man panel,led by Justice John Fabiyi,followed an undertaking by the respondents lawyer,Rotimi Jacobs {SAN},to the effect that since the court has granted accelerated hearing in the appeal,he will prevail on the CCT not to proceed with trial until the apex court rule on Saraki's appeal.''The appellant's brief of argument was filed yesterday {November 11,2015}.The respondent's brief of argument shall be filed within seven days from today.If need be,the  appellant's reply shall be filed within seven days thereafter.All these point to the fact that both parties are interested in expeditious hearing of the main appeal before this.Learned counsel for the respondents has given an undertaking that no unusual steps would be taken on behalf of the respondents.It is imperative to say...
