NCC warns cellphone dealers against buying, selling non-type approved devices The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has warned cellphone sellers not to buy or sell non-type approved devices. The commission gave the warning on Thursday during a sensitisation programme at the GSM Village Abuja. NCC’s Deputy Director of Consumer Affairs Bureau (CAB), Dr Emilia Nwokolo, said there was the need to sensitise sellers at the market so that they do not get arrested for selling non-type approved devices. Nwokolo, who represented the Director Consumer Affairs, Mr Alkassim Umar, said CAB was doing its bid to sensitise them, adding that there are other departments in the NCC responsible for monitoring and the enforcement. “As you know this is the GSM village and they deal with all these devices, phones, laptops and others. President Tinubu Appoints New Customs Deputy Comptroller-Generals      President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed three Deputy Comptroller-Generals of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS). In a statement on Friday, the spokesman of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, said the president appointed F O Okun, MBA Musa and A Hamisu as Deputy Comptroller-Generals of the NCS. Maiwada also said President Tinubu appointed three new Assistant Comptrollers-General (ACGs) namely K Olumoh,  AB Mohammed and A Alajogun. According the Service spokesman, the appointment of the new Customs top management followed the appointment of the Acting Comptroller-General, Adewale Adeniyi on June 19. Information in the public domain had it that they died the first night they moved into the new building. A visit to the scene of the crime revealed a generator connected to the house electricity grid and kept in a confined space without proper ventilation.  An autopsy conducted on the corpses revealed the cause of death to be carbon monoxide poisoning. They were killed by fumes from the generator. The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye while commiserating with the bereaved families wishes to advise the public on the terrible dangers of operating generators indoors as carbon monoxide which is emitted in the fume is a deadly gas that has wiped out several families due to ignorance.

In his ruling, Justice Ekwo held that the provisions of Section 20 of the NYSC Act do not relate to Mbah, as he is not currently a serving NYSC member, an intended one, or an employee of the corps. At the last adjourned date, the counsel for NYSC had argued that Mbah contravened the NYSC Act in the institution of the suit. While urging the court to strike out the suit, he said Mbah did not appeal to the President as required by the provisions of Section 20 of the NYSC Act before instituting the suit against them. Army General Declare Himself Niger Leader Niger’s putschists named an army general as the new leader of the unstable jihadist-hit nation on Friday and warned that any foreign military intervention would lead to chaos. It was alleged that the deceased was beaten to death by some persons who had an event at the hotel the previous night. She was accused of pilfering some of the Naira Notes allegedly sprayed on the celebrant.
