  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.   Bandits release 28 abducted students of Baptist High School 28 abducted students of Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi, Kaduna have been released by bandits after spending 20 days in captivity.   Joseph Hayab, Kaduna state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN) confirmed the release of 28 students.  Recall that a total of 121 students were abducted from their school hostels by bandits on July 5.   While one of the students, Abraham Aniya was rescued by security operatives alongside two other victims who were kidnapped along Kaduna-Kachia road on July 12, two other students escaped when they were asked to fetch firewood from a nearby forest on July 20.

  The national identification number (NIN) and subscriber identity module (SIM) integration exercise has been extended by the federal government till October 31.   Ikechukwu Adinde, Director of Public Affairs at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) who disclosed that there are now a total of 59.8 million unique NIN enrolments with an average of three to four SIMs per NIN, said the exercise was extended to  “accommodate registration in hard-to-reach remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, and Nigerians in the diaspora”.  Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni sets to complete the five modern markets with 3,200 shops he initiated in 2019.  The five modern markets are spread across five local governments of Yobe state, namely, Damaturu (800 shops/malls), Potiskum (600 shops/malls), Nguru (600 shops/malls), Gashua (600 shops/malls) and Gujba (600 shops).  The markets have shops and shopping malls, administrative block, mosque, fire fighting unit, road network and drainage linking every streets of the markets.  The projects are at 82% completion level. The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to a doctored video footage released by secessionist sympathisers on Youtube, featuring blurred images of some persons dressed in green  camouflage destroying a farmland in  an undisclosed location, recently. In an attempt to denegrate the reputation and image of the NA, authors of the video mischievously attributed the action of the persons to the military by falsely claiming they are soldiers and invariably personnel of the Nigerian Army.  However,  following  a fact finding investigation on the video by subjecting it to credible reverse image, it was discovered that the video was first published on YouTube channel "BIAFRA BOY" . The investigation also revealed that the image of the men in green camouflage was deliberately blurred to conceal their identity from viewers. Similarly the authors failed to identify the location, community, or Local Government Area the incident occured.  Given these facts, it is apparent that
