UAE official counters FG's claim, says '' no changes on the Nigeria/UAE travel status so far'' An official of the United Arab Emirates has countered claims made by the Federal government that it has lifted the year-long visa ban on Nigerian travelers. In an interview with CNN, an official from the Gulf state who spoke on condition of anonymity said “There are no changes on the Nigeria/UAE travel status so far.” Recall that last October, the UAE announced it will no longer issue visas to citizens from Nigeria and 19 other African nations. It did not provide further details. Obtaining a 30-day tourist visa was relatively easy until the UAE abruptly stopped issuing the visas to Nigerians.  FCT, Nasarawa To Synergize In Tightening Security, Road Development. In an effort to further deepen cross -boarder ties and enhance infrastructure development, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Nasarawa State is to work together to develop road construction and tighten security. Minister of FCT, Nyesom WIKE  gave the indication when he played host to the Governor of Nasarawa State Abdullahi Sule and his team who paid him a working visit in Abuja. WIKE reiterated the readiness of the FCT Administration to collaborate with Nasarawa  Government base on their request to work on abacha road to keffi and Metro rail line from Apo to Keffi.  He however emphasized that any project he would initiate would be based on available funds to guard against having additional uncompleted projects.  "One of the problems we have here, I must tell you is the problem of award of contracts without conclusion. While over four hundred primary and secondary schools have been closed due to banditry within the same period under review. NNPCL Records Over N18B Profit In 4 Months -  Kyari The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited NNPCL Mr Mele Kyari, says the company retail has made a profit of 18.4 billion naira in the first quarter of 2023. Niger Cancels 1,000 Diplomatic Passports From Ousted Regime The new military rulers of Niger have cancelled more than 990 diplomatic passports held by nationals and foreigners linked to the ousted regime. The foreign ministry has written to notify diplomatic representations in Niger that the passports are now “lapsed”, according to copies of the letter posted on social networks. The diplomatic documents were held by former senior figures in institutions and ministries as well as ex-MPs and advisers including to the president and prime minister, the official press agency ANP said late Thursday. About 50 of the passports had been given to American, British, French, Libyan and Turkish people as well as other West Africans. President Mohamed Bazoum was overthrown on July 26 and has since been detained at his residency. By Izunna Okafor, Awka Five passengers of a commercial bus have lost their lives dead in Anambra State, as a fully loaded container fell on a commercial bus. The fatal auto crash, which occured at about 7:30am on Friday, involved ten persons, comprising three male adults and seven female adults. According to the Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, RC Margaret B. Onabe, five female adults died in the crash, two male adults and two female adults were sustained different degrees of injuries; while one male adult was rescued unhurt. She added that the crash involved a Mistibushi L300 bus (commercial) with registration number: XE245AWK and a commercial Daf/Leyland truck with number: T-19094LA.
