Two Internet Fraudsters Bag Two Years Imprisonment in Kaduna The Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, secured the convicted of the duo of Salim Bashir and Khalid Ola Abdulwasiu before Justices Darius Khobo and A.A Bello respectively of the Kaduna State High Court, Kaduna, on  separate one count charge bordering internet fraud.  The convicts were arrested at a hotel in Barnawa, Kaduna in a sting operation prompted by intelligence on their alleged internet fraud-related activities. Investigation established that they had impersonated several personalities in the social media and used the false identities to defraud unsuspecting victims. They both pleaded guilty to the charges. Prosecution counsel, E.K. Garba urged the courts to convict them as charged. Naked man found dead inside car in Lagos 12 May 2023  Residents and passers-by around Isheri, Olowora Road, Ojodu Berger in Lagos woke up on Thursday to behold a strange scene in the neighbourhood. The corpse of a yet-to-be-identified man was said to have been found in a car in the neighbourhood. An eyewitness, who spoke with our reporter on the condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation, said the man was found naked in a black Toyota car. As of the time of the discovery, his corpse was said to be lying across the front seats of the car with his head on the driver’s seat and leg stretched across the passenger’s seat. Eyewitnesses said the man was not known to be a resident of the area. It was further gathered that no mark of violence was found on the man. Man confesses to killing 20 persons in Osun 12 May 2023    Saheed Wasiu, also known as K-Federal, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command. In his Lordship ruling, he said that he will go ahead to hear the substantive matter. The matter has been adjourned to Friday, May 19 for further deliberation. Chief Of Defence Staff Appears Before Investigative Panel Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor is currently before the Special Independent Investigative Panel on Human Rights Violations in the counter-Insurgency Operations in the North-East. General Irabor’s Appearance before the panel came on the heels of reports by Reuters news agency accusing the Nigerian military of carrying out thousands of forced abortions and massacring children in the North-Eastern part of the country. Nigerian Army had earlier denied running any operation called “Operation no living thing” in any part of the country. Jigawa Pilgrims Board Secures Over 1,400 Visas For Intending Pilgrims  Jigawa state Pilgrims welfare board says it has so far secured over 1,420 visa for its intending pilgrims. The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Ahmed Umar Labbo disclosed this to Radio Nigeria Correspondent in Dutse, the state capital. He said, all prospective pilgrims who completed payment for their hajj fare have been enrolled in the Visa process. He explained that the board would soon distribute 8kg bags and uniforms to center officers for onward distribution to prospective pilgrims. FG Has Begun Nationwide Registration Of Jobless Nigerians The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has embarked on registering all unemployed people in Nigeria to engage them in productive ventures. The Enugu coordinator of the agency, Ifeoma Ezekwe, disclosed this in an interview on Friday in Enugu. Ms Ezekwe said the exercise was being held across the 36 states, including the FCT, Abuja. She said the registration was going on simultaneously across the 774 local government areas, adding that it is for all unemployed Nigerians, with or without educational qualifications.

The decision has resulted in the controversial Executive Pension Bill, proposed by Governor Samuel Ortom, being put on hold for approval. Governor-elect Hyacinth Alia has criticized the bill, which would offer former state governors permanent accommodation and four new cars every four years. Gunmen Kill Policeman At Check Point in Rivers Dare-devil gunmen on Friday afternoon shot and killed a policeman at a check point around the Emohua axis of the East-West Road. The killers zoomed off immediately after the deed had been done According to eye witnesses, a driver who was around the area and apparently waiting to be cleared at the checkpoint was hit by a stray bullet. It is not clear if he died. The killers were suspected to be hoodlums who have been terrorising that axis of the East West Road. The road is actually occupied by various policemen who position themselves at checkpoints not far from each other. Police spokesperson in the state command, Grace Harris Iringe-Koko, a deputy superintendent of police who spoke with TNN over the telephone on Friday evening confirmed the killing and also said that the gunmen did not go with any arms belonging to the policemen at the checkpoint. The defendant, a former personnel of Kaduna State Vigilance Service, KADVS, was arrested by the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on March 13, 2023 after he alleged stole a 34" Samsung Television set from Halal Fountain Hotel Annex, a property under interim forfeiture.   The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him.
