  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.                       The National leadership of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities {SSANU} is set for a show down with the management of the Federal University of Agriculture,Abeokuta,Ogun State,over the sack of 23 of its members.The union claimed its members were sacked for exposing alleged corrupt practices by the Vice Chancellor and management of the institution.In a communique at the end of its National Executive Council meeting,SSANU said contrary to insinuations from the management of the institution that the union members were dissengaged for various act of insubordination,stealing among others,the staff were sacked for reporting corrupt practices in the institution to the EFCC and ICPC.The union also wants the federal government to institute a special visitation panel to investigate the activities of the Vice Chancellor and the Leadership of other institutions accused of corrupt practices.The Governing Council of the university had last thursday approved the

                According to PM News,Igbo traders in Lagos under the aegis of Igbo Traders in All Progressives Congress {APC} have urged the Lagos State Government to increase its interaction with them for better understanding.The traders made the demand in a communique issued at the end of its maiden meeting in Lagos at the weekend.They said increased government engagement with them would ensure better understanding of their needs and the challenges they were faced with at the various markets in the state.According to the communique presented by Mr Erondu Chinedu,the Co-ordinator of the meeting,the traders sought an end to what they called ''discrimination against the Igbos on levies and taxes at the various markets''.Thet also demanded for more inclusion of the Igbos in the political affairs of the state to give them a sense of belonging.Chinedu said the members of the association were law abiding and they would continue to relate harmoniously with the people of the s

NEW ZEALAND FACED ANOTHER EARTHQUAKE TODAY SUNDAY.{PHOTOS}.

            According to BBC,The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 7.8 quake hit just after midnight today sunday some miles from Christchurch.The tsunami arrived in the north-eastern coast about two hours later.Officials said the first waves may not be the largest,with tsunami activity possible for several hours.Residents were warned to head inland or for higher ground along the coast.Smaller waves are said to be arriving in Wellington and other areas,but the ministry of civil defence has said the highest waves,which could be as tall as 5m are expected between Malborough ,the north-eastern tip of the South island,and Banks Peninsula,just south of Christchurch.Residents in the Chatham Islands,423 miles south-east of the mainland,were also being warned a wave would hit imminently by the civil defence.Thousands of  people have already evacuated their homes as aftershocks continue to hit the area.Christchurch is still recovering from the 20 1 1   earthquake that killed  1 85 people

                The Governor of Anambra State,Chief Willie Obiano has described the loss of five members of the Nwigwe family of Urunnebo,Enugwu-Ukwu,Njikoka Local Government as a painful loss.The governor who was represented by the Head of Service ,Prince Harry Uduh stated yesterday at the burial of the victims including a wife,Francisca; three children: Chisom,Ebubechukwu,Ifechukwu and a house-help already buried at Ihiala her home town.Consoling the bereaved the Governor said ''What can you tell a man that lost his wife and four children?  It is a very painful loss.I believe in my heart that there is nothing God cannot do.He will surely give the family the fortitude to bear the loss,''.The governor told the family that the government and Ndi Anambra are standing with them at this moment of grief and assured that the state will render assistance to assuage their immediate needs.In her Condolence message,the Wife of the governor,Chief {Mrs} Ebelechukwu Obiano,told the
