 EFCC Taskforce Arrests 34 Suspected Currency Speculators in Abuja Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attached to the Taskforce on Currency mutilation, Dollarization of the Economy and Forex Malpractice, have arrested 34 suspected currency speculators  for alleged foreign exchange fraud. They were arrested on Friday, April 26, 2024 in a sting operation following credible intelligence about illegal sales of dollars at the Wuse Zone 4 area of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.   The suspects are :Usman Mohammed, Abdullahi Nasir, Abubakar Saleh, Mohammed Kabir Ibrahim, Abubakar Ghadafi, Muktar Usman, Umar Abubakar Abba, Yakubu Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Muhammed Suleman Abara, Yusuf Tahir, Usman Lawal, Usman Lawal, Usman Umar, Amina Garba Rola, Muhammed Aliyu, Murtala Haruna, Sani Mohammed, Umar Farouk, Muhammed Sagiuru, Aminu Salisu, Lawal Bello, Munzali Hashim, Jamilu Suleiman, Mustapha Umar, Mubarak Tanimu, Adamu Garba, Mohammed Usman, Bello Musa, Saleh Moha

Oyo residents groan as road crashes claim 18 lives in one week Residents of Ogbomoso in Oyo State have called on both the federal and the state governments to dualize the major trunk A road in the city. The residents, who spoke at the weekend, noted that this was necessary to avoid incessant road accidents on the road. At the last count, about 18 persons were said to have lost their lives in different road crashes in the area within one week. Many others also sustained life-threatening injuries. The road links Ogbomoso with other cities in the southern and northern parts of the country. It falls between Agric – Arinkinkin High School – Caretaker – Takie – Sabo and Aroje. It is a long stretch of road about 7 to 8 kilometres. Some of those who lost their lives in the accidents included three traditional rulers from Oriire Local Government Area.  Police officers arrested for abducting man, demanding N1m ransom in Rivers December 3, 2023     A yet to be ascertained number of police officers have been arrested in Rivers for abducting a staff of a hotel and demanding for N1 million ransom to free him. The victim of the abduction, a staff of a hotel was arrested in Port Harcourt on his way to work at about 8 pm on Friday by the rogue police officers. It was gathered from impeccable sources close to the Rivers Command that the criminally minded police officers intercepted their victim on his way to work, searched his body and found nothing incriminating on him. Gov. Yusuf’s aide arrested for allegedly diverting palliatives The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Tasiu Al’amin-Roba, a Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Gov. Abba Yusuf and one Abdulkadir Muhammad for alleged diversion of the state’s palliatives. The Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Sunday that the suspects were arrested at a warehouse at Sharada with over 200 empty bags. He said that the suspects were reportedly repackaging the rice and maize at the warehouse at Sharada. “We have since commenced intensive investigation to find out how many bags of maize or rice were repackaged and sold,” he said. Gumel said that the two suspects would be charged in court after the conclusion of discreet investigations.

FRCN Kaduna Debunks Fire Incident in Procurement Department The procurement building of Radio Nigeria Kaduna has not been gutted by fire, as reported by some online media. The fire incident, which occurred this afternoon, only affected a generator house and a building used to store scrap. The incident started when some cleaners failed to contain the fire, which started from spreading while burning trash after clearing rubbish at the back of the procurement building. The Zonal Director of FRCN Kaduna Zonal Station, Mallam Buhari Auwalu, advised journalists to cross-check facts in the pursuit of being the first to break the news. He thanked the fire service for their quick response in putting out the fire. Mallam Buhari Auwalu said an investigation would be carried out, and measures would be put in place to prevent a recurrence.
