  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements.        President Muhammadu Buhari said Wednesday at State House, Abuja, that the priority in Republic of Mali now should be securing the country, which is largely occupied by terrorists. The President spoke as he received briefings from ECOWAS Special Envoy to the West African country, former President Goodluck Jonathan. The meeting came ahead of an extraordinary virtual summit by ECOWAS heads of state and leaders, scheduled for Friday. President Buhari stressed: “About two-thirds of Mali is occupied by terrorists, and it makes common sense to secure the country, rather than pursuing individual interests.” He said the sub-region would take a common position on the issue when the leaders meet on Friday, hoping that an amicable and generally acceptable position to all interested parties would be arrived at.          President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Chief Executive Officers for nine of the agencies under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture. According to the approval letter, which was conveyed to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, by Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President, on Tuesday, Mr. Buki Ponle was appointed Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria while Mr. Nura Sani Kangiwa was named the Director General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism. LORDS CHOSEN PASTOR,PLEADED GUILTY TO DEFILING AND IMPREGNATING TWO UNDERAGE SISTERS.{PHOTO}.

         A Pastor of the The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Church, Nduka Anyanwu has pleaded guilty to defiling and impregnating two underage sisters.... This came after Police Prosecutor ASP Roman Unuigbe told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in June, in Oshodi area of Lagos. Unuigbe also disclosed that the randy Pastor impregnated the two sisters aged 17 and 13 (names withheld), after defiling them on several occassions at the church complex, under the pretext of holding prayer sessions with them. He added that the offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 which stipulates life imprisonment for the offence of defilement of a minor. Chief Magistrate Mrs A. Adedayo who presided over the case remanded the defendant in a custodial center and adjourned the case to September 15 for facts and sentencing.

       The Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Engr. Tayo, Bamgbose-Martins has said that the State Government would soon commence the review process for issuing State of Origin documents to individuals, just as specific steps will be mapped out to follow due process before the documents are given to anyone. Bamgbose-Martins, who disclosed this during a meeting with the members of the Federal Character Commission in his office at Alausa, Ikeja, called on those who issue letters of indigeneship to non-indigenes and those procuring same to desist from such untoward acts, as it is a disadvantage to the real indigenes of the State. FRSC WARNS MOTORISTS TO DESIST FROM ILLEGAL COVERING OF VEHICLE NUMBER PLATES.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE.

        The Zonal Commanding Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Zone 4, Jos Dr Kayode OLAGUNJU, Assistant Corps Marshal has warned motorists to desist from the illegal act of covering their number plates. He Observed that this illegal act is common among the political class and senior government officials in the zone, comprising Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa States.This illegal conduct according to him has both safety and security implication, adding that Sections10(4)(h) and 10(4)(s) of the FRSC (Establishment) Act, 2007 makes it mandatory for vehicle identification mark (Number Plates) to be conspicuously displayed on the vehicle. Also, the National Road Traffic Regulations (NRTR) 2012 in sections 36 and 39 makes it an Offence not to properly display Vehicle Identification Number on any vehicle plying Nigerian roads. The Zonal Commander stated that such vehicle will be impounded while the drivers\owners will be arrested and prosecuted in line with the extant laws.
